Fire drop fourth straight league game in 2-1 loss to TFC

The Fire fell to 6-11-5 on the season and 4-6-2 at home after a 2-1 defeat to Toronto FC. It was their fourth consecutive loss in league play with realistic playoff hopes quickly slipping away. Nemanja Nikolic scored the Fire's only goal by heading in a cross from newcomer Raheem Edwards in the 62nd minute.

The Fire quickly conceded the go ahead goal three minutes later. Richard Sanchez failed to close down Jonathan Osorio and pushed the ball back toward him while leaving the goal open. The TFC attacker converted the chance and the Fire failed to seriously threaten from there.

Sebastian Giovinco got behind the defense in the 47th minute for the game's first score.

  • Guillermo, any news on when McClain will be back?

  • In reply to go fire:

And Polster and DeLeeuw, too. That's some serious roster upgrade right there.

  • In reply to BrianC.:

De Leeuw in August some time. Don't wait up on Polster.

  • In reply to go fire:

Rodriguez said that they did not have a return date set for him yet.
