Fire advance to USOC Semifinal

The Fire's 4-0 victory over Louisville City has propelled them into the US Open Cup Semifinal against the Philadelphia Union. Goals from Nemanja Nikolic, Aleksandar Katai, Diego Campos, and Elliot Collier completed a relatively thorough win for a Fire team in control of the match from the start.

The Fire will face Philadelphia in a match scheduled for August 8. The location of the Semifinal and priority hosting for any potential Final was set to take place today at 12:45 but was postponed due to a protest by the Portland Timbers after their loss to Los Angeles FC. The Timbers' complaint centers around LA's use of more than five internationals for the match.

The Houston Dynamo will presumably face LAFC in the other Semifinal if Portland's challenge does not result in forfeiture.
