Fire and Rapids draw 2-2

The Fire managed to salvage a point against the team currently sitting at the bottom of the MLS standings. After going down 2-0 in the first fifteen minutes, an own goal followed by a brilliant Aleksandar Katai strike leveled the game in the 24th minute.

The Fire controlled most of the play but couldn't break through after Katai's goal. The Rapids had the best chance of the second half however, but Richard Sanchez denied Joe Mason's shot in stoppage time.

Johan Kappelhof will miss the next match due to yellow card accumulation. He also received a straight red card in the 84th minute.

  • Kappelhof was a huge disappointment in this game. He looked lackadaisical and sloppy. Can't recall him ever looking worse. What is his problem? There are times where I wonder if he doesn't wish he were playing somewhere else. He has so much talent and seems to just waste it. When he DOES get into the game, it seems like he always gets over aggressive and fouls whoever is available until he gets carded. I think we need to get tech support to check his tuner. Perhaps if we had someone else to compete for his spot...
