Fire survive Crew 1-0 for first win of the season

A 27th minute Zack Steffen give-away resulted in Nemanja Nikolic's fourth goal of the season and the Fire held on to defeat the Columbus Crew 1-0. The visitors controlled most of the match, held a 65-35 possession advantage, and outshot the Fire 20-8 but could not break through despite some close calls with posts and crossbars.

The Fire started Bastian Schweinsteiger at centerback and shifted between three, four, and five man backlines throughout the match.
