  • Halftime right now. Duka looks incredible tonight.

    66 minute, Bye,Bye Fire.
Can't understand why Duka was taken out, Anangono had a mediocre game, should have been the first one subbed out.
Such coaching decisions lead to missing the playoffs, time for a fresh approach with a coach who can recognize what's going on.
FIre started out strong, but ended in a complete embarrassment.
Choke time, at least Magee won the golden boot.

  • Pathetic. The most important game of the year and the first one I stopped watching early.

  • Arne Friedrich going down and retiring. Ownership that didn't respond until midseason. The story of this season. Not to mention waiting until midseason for 2 or 3 seasons before this. There's a red card there somewhere and it isn't on Arne.

  • Fire season goes splat.

  • Can we have the firing announcement now so we can at least celebrate something?!?

  • In reply to Arklow:

    A little blood please.

  • Bob Bradley and Klopas kicked upstairs would be ideal for me, but I suspect Bradley's sights are higher than the Fire. I didn't think they would qualify today but their play the last few months shows they are a Grazzini and a decent striker away from being very competitive.
If Rios turns out to be a rent -a- DP for half a season then the problem is ownership, regardless of what we think of Klopas. I have always thought this mid season transfers were about spending less money.

  • In reply to Celt:

They are REALLY close right now but by the time the offseason has run it's course, the current ownership and management will have them back to where they were at the start of each of the last 3 seasons and we'll be waiting again for midseason before they figure it out and have the necessary parts assembled. A day late & a dollar short, as usual.

  • KLOPAS SHOULD HAD GONE 2 YEARS AGO!!!!! THE FIRE HAVE GOOD PLAYERS AND IT IS A SHAME THEY HAVE NO LEADER. THE REAL CELEBRATION WHEN KLOPAS IS FIRED AND TAKE PAUSE WITH YOU. KLOPAS IS PITIFUL, I BET DLC IS LAUGHING HIS HEAD OFF. AS LONG AS FK IS THERE, THEY WILL NEVER WIN ANYTHING AND HE DOESNT KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING. I HOPE THE OWNERSHIP REALIZES THAT.

    In reply to klopashater:

No the ownership doesn't realize that, they are not that knowledgable or intelligent enough to figure it out

  • Hearing that Javier Leon may be out as President of Soccer Operations.

    Stay tuned to Fire Confidential.

  • In reply to Guillermo Rivera:

Nothing less than heads on the gates...

  • Why do anything now? Doesn't the Fire wait until mid-season to make moves in hopes of a desperate play-off push. That has been the pattern for about three years now.

  • In reply to Gladbach:

Official Chicago FIre response: What!?! You think it's midseason already?!? Wait until early July after Andy's end-of-June annual self-assessment employee picnic extravaganza. By then we should know what we think we have to do to sell more season tickets and should be able to formulate an appropriate snow-job response to your very serious and much appreciated question.

Hey! Have you seen the new stuff for sale in the team store?!?

  • In reply to Arklow:

Hey there will be a new primary jersey next year on top of the black third kit.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.

  • In reply to Guillermo Rivera:

Since the the club seems to be trying to emulate Newcastle, perhaps the new primary kit will be black and white stripes...

Camilo scored a hat trick and will win the Golden Boot over Magee. More misery to pile on today...

Great incentive for season ticket renewals.
Feel sorry for the customer service personnel
who work their butts off who are under great pressure
getting renewals and new fans. Customer service is the only department in the Fire organization that is excellent.
The higher ups who wonder about slow or dwindling ticket
sale ought to take a good look in the frigging mirror, they're
the problem by putting an inferior product on the field.

  • They should not be trying just to make the playoffs. They need to build a team that is scary. Do that, and I will come back next year.

  • Yesterday's game was an embarrassment, but it didn't need to come to that. Jeff Crandall's been doing his best to remind us that the Fire has been fantastic since midseason - and it should be remembered - but that only serves to highlight how terrible the team was at the beginning of the year.

Offensively, we are one injury away from 1/3 of our goals being taken off the board. Defensively, as much as I like Soumaré and Segares, I think we need some other options. Hunter Jumper looked promising when he filled in for Soumaré, and I'd like to see him get more game time there. As for Segares, don't we have a left half that we can drop back there? I realize he's a veteran presence in the back, but we have lots of vets in holding midfield with the Ginja Ninja, Rios, Pause (if he's on the field) who can help out. Or we look to make a deal in the offseason to get his replacement lined up.

I think Matthew Doyle at MLSSoccer.com was spot on on Twitter when he said that Duka and Nyarko were fantastic in the first half. Duka was particularly impressive to me - maybe because I expect Nyarko to do his thing.

And then there's SJ. When is his contract up?

And then there's Javier Leon and Frank...
