Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanskgiving everyone!

Thanks for making my third season of Chicago Fire Confidential a fun one!

After the announcement that Austin Berry had won the MLS Rookie of the Year award a couple of other interesting stories have come to light. Jalil Anibaba is in Spain training with the Fire's "strategic alliance" partner Atletico Madrid for two weeks. This is an excellent opportunity for a young player to gain experience in competition against a top level team. If Anibaba is the starting right back coming into 2013, this can only help his development. Another stint overseas for Sean Johnson and a look for Austin Berry this offseason should be explored as well.

Homegrown midfielder Victor Pineda suffered a torn miniscus during post-season training and will be out of action for 3-5 months after undergoing surgery last week. It's an unfortunate break for a player that has come along nicely within the system and is expected to challenge for playing time with the first team in 2013. Hopefully his recovery time is closer to 3 months so that he can get in some time during pre-season.

  • I'm thankful that the team was better than the 2011 edition and that they said they would spend Keane like money but didn't. ;)

  • Austin Berry is starting a 2 week training stint with Atletico Madrid on November 25.

  • Seems Paolo Tornaghi is going back to home to play according to his twitter...

  • In reply to Adam25:

Pretty sure he's just going back to Italy for offseason/holidays.

  • Thanks to Giaco for pointing this out on the twitter.....here's a striker who will be available in July 2013.

I think he might be able to score a goal or two in MLS.

  • In reply to Guillermo Rivera:

so will he cost more than #puppolikemoney? if so you can count him out of the running to be a new striker for us, plus he is not even from uruguay.

  • In reply to penapirata:

    Ha!
If he's looking for more than $300K he's probably out of the running.

  • Thanks, Guillermo, for the updates, news, and opinion you've provided. I have enjoyed it very much. Keep up the good work!
