  • SJ's gotta stop dreaming of the Azteca and get his head in this game if we want to hold them off in the second half.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

How true! Things got better when Pause came off and replaced
by Nyarco. Pause should not be in starting 11 with Pardo.
We need to pass the Ball forward with speed and not pass
the ball backward as Pause most often does. Hopefully we can
    score that third Goal!!

  • It's good that Macdonald is there to miss them but he is approaching Orduro levels of missing sitters. Nice to see Rolfe heat up. if Pappa goes on a free, almost certainly the case now, he may be back in MLS within a year given his propensity to dribble and lose the ball.

  • 3-1 in Philly, but we scored 4 because the only goal against us was an own.

    I'll take it.

What MacDonald provided that Oduro did not was the ability to hold the ball with his back to goal. Not sure about the pattern but I saw this more in the 1st half - he didn't hold it for long, but it was enough to dish off a pass to an oncoming player. This adds a dimension to our offense that Philly may not have been ready for. Teams can figure that out as well, but having the possibility to sub out MacD for Oduro or Nyarko means we can pose very different problems within the same game to opposing teams.

And Rolfe showed his quality tonight. The first goal was possible because he was playing underneath and was able to make a trailing run; the second was from a position where he was more advanced but clinical with his strike. Nearly bagged the third a couple of times, too. As far as I can tell from the stats on the MLS site, he's now our 3rd leading goal scorer with 4 though he has less than half the minutes (about 800 mins) of the top two (Pappa has 3 goals on about 1550 mins and Oduro has 5 on 1611).

And, Friedrich put his money where his mouth is after complaining that we're not pushing the attack enough. Very nice goal to win the game. That's leadership.
