Pappa Says Holland Is A Possibility

According to this article out of Guatemala Marco Pappa now says that a move to FC Twente is a possibility.  When asked directly if he was going to play for Twente in Holland Pappa responded, "I said before that those were rumors but right now I'm saying there are possibilities.  There's nothing for sure but hearing that they're interested is positive."  Pappa continued, "I'm hoping that 2012 brings alot for me personally and with the national team."

When asked about his future in Chicago he responded, "Right now I belong to Chicago for one more year.  As for Europe, all I can tell you is it looks more favorable than not as far as playing over there."

The Fire might be wise to collect on a transfer during the January transfer window before losing one of their best players for no compensation after the conclusion of the 2012 season.  If they're intent on keeping him they may have to step up with a substantial contract extension.

  • sell him. he never looked comfortable on the field when grazzini was out there with him.

  • Agreed sell him. Use the money and put back into the team. He will be leaving after this year anyway might as well cash out.

  • Sean Johnson has been named to Jurgen Klinsmann's USMNT January camp for the second consecutive winter. Bill Hamid and Nick Rimando are the other 'keepers.

  • Guillermo I'm going to give you an early Xmas present - a nitpicky comment.

It's a bit petty, but we all know Johnson was named to Bob Bradley's USMNT camp last January. The fact that it's Klinsmann's first shows that he's on Klinsi's radar, which is great for Johnson but predictable considering his work with the U-23s. Would love to see him supplant Bill Hamid. For that reason, going to drink at the same fountain (ie training with Timmy at Everton) was another good sign for young Sean John.

  • In reply to Modibo:

lol....good catch....I probably should have written that out differently.

  • After not being renewed by the Fire, Baggio Husidic has signed a two year deal with Hammarby in Sweden.

  • LA Galaxy have signed former Fire back up kepper Nick Noble.

  • Agree with all. Let him go before the transfer window closes and collect now, rather than get nothing after the '12 season ends and his contract runs out.

And good luck to Baggio. Sounds like a great opportunity for him.

  • And here's another Guatemalan interview with Pappa.......

    http://www.prensalibre.com/deportes/futbol_nacional/alegria-Marco_0_614938564.html

    Regarding the Fire/MLS, he says.....
"Time goes by quickly, it's already been four years in Chicago. where I arrived hopeful and ready to grow and I accomplished that. While I have one year left on my contract I think it's time to look to new horizons."
"I can't deny (my desire to play in Europe) and there are people working on that, playing in Europe so we'll wait and see what our destiny holds. There are some options but without anything concrete I won't talk about them. Right now I have a contract with Chicago and that's my focus."

If he doesn't have a foot out the door already there's definitely a toe wedged in the doorway.

    Sell.

  • GR, is there any news about the former Barca midfielder playing in the second division in Spain signing with the Fire? I saw a blurb on MLS.com on this rumor. Will this be another all season thing with him finally arriving in August?

  • In reply to Krasov:

This is likely a player that they've looked at while in Spain. I'm not sure how serious the interest is at this point.
