Mid Week Injury Report

A look at the mid week injury report shows Sebastian Grazzini and Mike Banner as questionable.  Banner, who has not played in a regular season match this year while recovering from achilles injuries was Gonzalo Segares' most likely replacement at left back before spraining his ankle during a first half collision in Tuesday's reserve league match.  Frank Klopas has indicated that Cory Gibbs or Dan Gargan could move to left back on Saturday against San Jose.  Pari Pantazopoulos has seen time at left back in reserve league play but he was moved to midfield  on Tuesday.  The Fire's open tryout winner also struggled at center back on August 28 against the Rapids and doesn't appear to be in the plans for this weekend.

Forward Gabriel Ferrari suffered a left ACL tear late in the first half of that same Colorado reserve match on the 28th and will miss the rest of the season.

San Jose is struggling but it will be important to have Sebastian Grazzini available for obvious reasons.  In other midfield injury news, Pavel Pardo says he's ready to go after exiting his last match due to tightness in his calf.

CHICAGO FIRE -- OUT: MF Gabriel Ferrari (L knee ACL tear); DF Steven Kinney (lower abdominal strain); MF Marko Maric (L ankle posterior capsulitis); DOUBTFUL: DF Mike Banner (R ankle sprain); QUESTIONABLE: MF Corben Bone (R knee contusion); MF Sebastian Grazzini (R hamstring tightness)

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES -- OUT: MF Andre Luiz (L knee injury); DF Ike Opara (L foot injury); FW Alan Gordon (surgery); FW Steven Lenhart (family leave); PROBABLE: MF Brad Ring (R shoulder sprain); MF Anthony Ampaipitakwong (L groin strain)

  • So I guessing that Maric is out after the season is over...

  • In reply to Adam25:

At $200K I would assume so.

  • then we can bring back Ristic.

  • In reply to WBO5ElGuapo:

I doubt he would want to come back...

  • In reply to Adam25:

Ristic is trialing with Seattle this week.

Pardo and Grazzini are ready for Saturday. Pappa may not start.

  • Nice article by John Kass in the Trib today on the Fire. Nice to see the Fire get some publicity in our dailies.

  • In reply to nery:

Yes....Kass is one of the best when it comes to that.

  • In reply to Guillermo Rivera:

Sat next to him at a few games this year. He is totally into the game. He's also surprisingly on the not tall side. Great fan to debate Fire stategy with.

Thanks Drew.....voting does indeed end today.

  • There is a way to vote more than once per day, by loging on on different computers. We have two at home, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I actaully voted twice per day, after all that would be cheating and not in keeping with the mores and traditions of Chicago. I'm very dedicated to the mores and traditions of Chicago.

  • How about trying to sign Steed Malbranque. He's a good player without a team right now, and looks to be done with playing in Europe.

  • According to Transfer Markt his street value is close to zero.
