Fire Waive Davis Paul

The Fire have announced that midfielder Davis Paul has been waived.  Non guaranteed MLS contracts can be released before July 1 giving teams maneuverability with their rosters and salary budget.  Players on the roster after July 1 are guaranteed compensation for the remainder of 2011.

The release of Paul, who appeared in one match this season leaves the Fire with 27 players on the roster. Three below the maximum limit of 30 with one international spot available.  It would seem that something is afoot as the opening of the July transfer window approaches.

  • Kinda sorry to see him go. Thought he showed some promise in the preseason. Is Mike Banners contract guaranteed or something?

  • crap

  • TFC makes a splash.

  • Im just going to call Pari, Pants

"Pants" is a great nickname. Can be modified as "Daddy Pants" or "Fancy Pants"

Wow! A Superdraft pick released who now we know was a CDLC choice. Why release the kid the day before his developmental contract becomes permanent. Is this the same kid that has been scoring all those goals in practice. Why is he not playing on the field when this team desperately needs goals. Has the Cal school record for assists and the leading goal scorer in Pac Ten. Klopas covering his ass. Considering playoffs are out why not develop for the furture.

Davis Paul will find a job soon in the NASL Div 2 to get some playing time before he gets another crack in MLS.

Who said whatever the F.O. does has to make sense.
They might have to cut another international player for
another open slot to keep pace with other teams.
Looks like its going to be an open season for aging
stars to come to the MLS retirement community.

  • I've come to this site on my laptop and mobile devices recently and it has gone to this post from like 6 months ago. strange.
