Julian Posada should be taking notes on how to market your soccer team.
That is a fast team.. makes me think we will continue boom ball..
that was fantastic
i am liking baggio's effort so far
chicago controlling possession and much of it at midfield or in columbus side of field, but nothing going in the final third
and sometimes he just needs to take the shot instead of trying to settle the ball for a perfect chance. taking too much time in teh final third and columbsus is getting there before the shot is taken
if nyarko isn't going to shoot, he needs to come out..
defense has been pretty solid. nyarko making poor decisions. our forwards arent being productive. we need to be more dangerous on corners - teams are all too willing to concede corners against us.
cant fault the effort tonite - these guys are playing hard. outplaying the crew. just something missing...
julius james is saving columbus.
for all the crap logan pause takes, he has played a very good match today
WHEW
great play by barrouch for that great run in the box & shot/pass to nazarit.
just wish the defense hadnt let up the few minutes after that - almost gave the game back
A win? It has been so long since the last one I have forgotten how to react!
The midfield bossed today. Oduro, Pause, Husidic, and nyarko in the second half drove the game. Gaston seemed dangerous the whole time but needs to finish. Chaves seemed a bit lost. Sega was good, Anibaba was solid, Gibbs was fantastic, Cuesta was good at breaking up plays but needs to learn you don't always need to hoof it up.. Solid game, good win.
excellent analysis. i thought the midfield played great as well.
nyarko was much better in 2nd half tho - his 1st half was pretty weak IMO
yeah nyarko in the first half was a negative, but a huge positive in the second half.
Whatta relief! I want to be happy now, and I want to climb up the standings. I understand that may not be a directly linear climb, but let's get on with it.
KC puttin a whoopin on FCdallas in front of what looks to be about 5k fans
Maybe more than half of those Dallas fans were at the American Airlines Arena watching Game 6 of the NBA Finals on the jumbotron.
Finally! My neighbors must be wondering what the hell I was yelling about earlier! During the first half I began to fantasize about what a victory would feel like, but I banished the thought out of fear of a jinx. If Barouch can't beat the crossbar or the keeper, the next best thing, I suppose, is putting a shot on frame for someone else to finish. Nyarko could take a page out of that book (though he did finally decide to uncork a couple shots tonight... to little effect though).
Barouch HAS to start getting more time. He has had impact in almost every game he has subbed in. Maybe a start in his future? Right now I can't decide if he should start or is better as a sub.
he has a nose for getting into scoring position thats for sure. something this team has been sorely lacking
third shot out and a win not sure what to say, still confused by this season...
Barouch is a monster. Soccer by Ives made him Balouch, with an L. Yes he could stand to get more time, but in the - long seasons have lots of minutes for playmakers kind of way... not in the - ship is sinking kind of way.
I'm also happy for KC, but if they had passed us up today, that would have been
awful.
GR- it seemed Frank was kissing people -as a Greek winning coach would- I hope this fits into his rating some how -lol.
I wrote about a week ago that I thought the player on the Fire who had the greatest understanding
of the position he plays is Orr. I'm surprised I've been vindicated so quickly.
He can play off the ball and seemingly has great awareness of what soccer is about.
While Nyarko and Oduro can play brilliantly they also are prone to making dumb plays
(an ability that many other Fire players have)
While the midfield played much better today, still felt there was too many long punts
and that several midfielders apparently thought they were strikers by taking too many dumb
shots.
But over-all easily outplayed Columbus.
probly because for almost whole 1st half the strikers werent taking any shots, so the midfield had to do something
