Mid Week Injury Report Updated

The injury report for Saturday's upcoming match against the defending MLS Cup Champions has been release.

CHICAGO FIRE -- OUT: MF Mike Banner (L Achilles tendinitis); DF Steven Kinney (R Achilles repair); DOUBTFUL: MF Marko Maric (L ankle sprain/contusion); FW Gabriel Ferrari (L hamstring strain); QUESTIONABLE: DF Cory Gibbs (L hamstring strain)

COLORADO RAPIDS -- OUT: FW Macoumba Kandji (L knee ACL tear); FW Quincy Amarikwa (L ankle sprain); QUESTIONABLE: FW Conor Casey (L hamstring strain); DF Eddie Ababio (R hamstring strain); PROBABLE: MF Pablo Mastroeni (R Achilles strain); MF Sanna Nyassi (L hamstring strain)

Gibbs did not train yesterday and Ferrari left Sunday's reserve match in the second half hobbling a bit.  On a side note, Ferrari's goal against the Dynamo reserves was deflected by a Houston defender and ruled an own goal.

CCL Final

Real Salt Lake plays the second leg of the CONCACAF Champion's League Final tonight in Utah against Monterrey.  The first leg in Mexico ended in a 2-2 draw.  A win would go a long way towards elevating MLS' international standing but I'm not sure it's comparable to the US Hockey team's win in Lake Placid in 1980 as Garth Lagerwey claims.

RSL is an incredible 23-1-10 in their last 34 MLS home regular season matches.

  • Here's a tidbit on a young Colombian striker who supposedly can also play the CAM position. A report has him linked to the Fire.....

Assuming if the Fire signs him (including paperwork and etc), will he start? If so, who will grab some bench in the midfield/forward?

  • In reply to longoria3:

It's not much more than a rumor at this point. Even if they were to sign him he would not be eligible to play until July 15.

As far as who he replaces in the line-up, if his wiki page is accurate he can play CAM so he would join Pause at center mid.

  • One difference between RSL and the Miracle On Ice guys is that RSL would be showing they are a good team that can compete against the the best of our region. The hockey team got lucky one day against a a far superior, propoganda-driven team that would wipe the ice with them 99 out of 100 times. That makes it one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed.

  • So yeah....I was kinda hoping to see Mac Kandji again....guys a cnut and I'm sure Sega would have loved to say hello. I'm glad we won't see Amarikwa--that guy was decent in their USOC match in Peoria.
