Hassli Takes Jersey Off To Reveal.........Another Jersey

I have to give Eric Hassli an A for creativity and an F for awareness. This silly move resulted in a second yellow and an ejection last night but it did get a chuckle out of me.

Actually, the most amazing thing about this video is that John Thorrington can be seen in uniform and on the field.

  • More amazing is that three reds were shown but Thor was still on the pitch at the end of the match!

    That is amazing.

He's also sporting the captain's armband.

it was the kinda stunt i woulda expected out of Ocho-Cinco.... but sheesh, already a man down, you think Hassli woulda known better. even if its a stunt you just feel you gotta do, wait for another game when its your first booking or something. i still think that (a) the rule is kinda strict and needless anyway, theres really no harm done by the action, but... (b) since the rule is quite well known to be 100% enforced, its just plain STUPID to take off your jersey to celebrate a goal. other antics like cartwheels and dog-piling are allowed, go ahead & do that instead

btw, the 2 straight reds last nite were both pretty questionable IMO - they both probly warranted a caution, but Toledo wanted to be the main attraction last nite

altho, i am in favor of how the refs are giving more bookings, red cards, and penalties early this season - it will take the defensive players some time to adjust but it will open the game up & make the matches more attractive to watch

The straight red on Koffie was ridiculous IMO, the straight red on Soares was probably a terrible attempt at a make up call. Both were marginal yellows.

    From the Vancouver Sun.....incredible.....

"Caps midfielder John Thorrington looked effective in his Vancouver debut when replacing Dunfield for more than 50 minutes against New England. But Thorrington -who just got over a quadriceps problem -suffered a calf injury and might not play in Houston."

i liked Thor as a player, but i still gotta say, great decision by the Fire to let him go

  • In reply to CountChocula:

He was also a good locker room guy....just a shame he can never stay healthy.
