  • Conway was a no brainer but I would never bench Nyarko. Its a pity Maric was injured as I could see him taking Viderias place and adding some bite to midfield. Johnson may have trouble getting back in the lineup. if goalkeepers don't do all the expected things, every time, the odd spectacular save means nothing.I expect a veteran like Conway to seize his opportunity.

  • leaving nyarko on the bench until the opposing team has gotten a few cautions - maybe not such a bad idea - nyarko gets beat up a lot early in matches

  • matchday live has blocked yet another fire game, grrrr

looking for a stream if anyone has a link?

Well, it looks like Seattle performance was a false dawn. They looked good for a half but it now appears that preseason predictions, from Fire fans and soccer bloggers alike, that they would be down there with Toronto FC are on the money. You cannot win games consistently with a defense like ours.

  • In reply to CountChocula:

they didnt pack it in at least - good effort to try & get the point back.

this team seems to have such a porous defense its gonna give up goals even when they play 4 at the back and 2 d-mids. so i'd rather see them have oduro and/or nyarko in instead of vidiera. the best defense for chicago is having some speed on the flanks to make the other teams stay back & be aware of the danger

  • In reply to CountChocula:

Chocula, does this mean you found a thread, and if so where? for future reference.

  • In reply to Celt:

yeah someone on bigsoccer posted a link

    i think this was it

  • In reply to Celt:

fut teh wuk? portland 2 dallas 0 at half

  • In reply to CountChocula:

Apparently Portland is a better team than the Fire.
Offically, at this point, the Fire defense is the worst in the league.
Videria looks lost, rather they kept Lowry, the only strong point on defense
is Mikulic. The teams positioning and spacing leaves much to be desired.
Despite the negatives, for the most part in the first half the Fire had the better
of the play. Maybe, they should have picked up the Finnish striker, perhaps he knows how to finish, not to mention a name that apparently doesn't know how to finish.
Before the Portland game, I said that the outcome of that game would mirror how well the Fire will be later in the year. Hopefully, I'll be proven wrong.

  • In reply to lonecoyote:

yeah i will agree the spacing at times is horrible. 3 fire midfielders in the same space & cant pass it because 2 opposing mids are covering all 3

  • In reply to lonecoyote:

Are Husidic and Ristic on DLC's sh-t list or what, rather see them in than Videira..

  • In reply to lonecoyote:

I'll ask DLC about them this week.

  • In reply to lonecoyote:

Yes, Guillermo, please ask the coach. On one level, I have the sincere question, seeking information, what does Vidiera (or Davis Paul) offer that Baggio does not? To be fair, I saw Vidiera pressure LA, make some passes, I like his hustle ( he's not lazy like Collins John) but he also lost possession a few times. I'm thinking DLC will point to speed. And yes, I'd like a team built for speed, but Baggio is a proven goal scorer, and he should have minutes. So on another level, I'm not sincere, I'm bitter about it.
I am also wondering abt 3 defenders vs 4 of them. I like Sega and Ristic being able to push up or come back, but when it's broke, as it is, it needs fixing.
Thanks GR, looking forward to your ratings. Any chance of getting a rating on this game and a cumulative rating?

If the other teams have had a chance to study and solve for our forwards

  • In reply to lonecoyote:

.... I hope that our forwards just had bad luck/ slightly off touch. I don't want to accept the possibility that the other teams figured out how to shut them down.

  • In reply to ChrisConnolly:

They're still creating chances....this is a good thing. Puerari should have finished his today.

  • In reply to CountChocula:

DLC post game press conference coming later. Biggest story is that Jon Conway will start again next week against Houston.

  • In reply to CountChocula:

had chances, but in the first half videria, paul, and pause seemed invisible.. i agree that we should just play an attacking style

  • In reply to CountChocula:

I'm sure CDLC has a good excusse. Oduro has some speed on him...

  • In reply to CountChocula:

I miss Blanco and his play making...

  • In reply to CountChocula:

They better hope they are as chummy as claimed because they will be spending the rest of this season hiding together behind their circled wagons.

  • Good call, clearly interfering with play. We should be up 2 1

  • In reply to Celt:

gaston with the same move he could of had 3 goals if not for good goal keeping and just not as luck on those...

  • In reply to Celt:

The speed of the game looks a little above average must be because there's not rain. Sub coming in at half time...

  • In reply to Celt:

    anibaba need to sit
he is mentally not yet up for this level of play
