  • I'm thinking this midfield line up is going to struggle to create many opportunities.

  • Vancouver leads Toronto 3-1 and it could be worse. Not too surprising since TFC is going to be....um....bad.

  • Love this CSN Fire pregame show....although it's apparently called Chicago Bulls Close Up for some reason. Oh wait, I see they must not realize it's the opener so they're re-running a Bulls special.

  • In reply to cesba:

    CSN....bad programming

  • In reply to cesba:

Nyarko not starting? This is just absurd. Now by the time we get rid of DLC we may have an alienated star, the best player on the team by miles. That is if he is not given away for a mess of pottage. I'm sure if this continues smarter GM's will make offers.

  • In reply to cesba:

chavez goal in 17th min :o)

rodriguez gets one for dallas in 18th min :o(

  • In reply to CountChocula:

Chaves also set up that goal by being fouled resulting in the free kick

  • In reply to CountChocula:

fire looking better now - the first 15 min their offensive game plan consisted of sean johnson kicking the ball to hartmann. now they at least getting a few balls forward into the box

  • In reply to CountChocula:

Charlie Davies scores on a PK. DCU up 2-0 on the Crew.

  • In reply to cesba:

Davies scored again for DC United. 3-0.

  • In reply to cesba:

agudelo scores for NY, 1-0 vs seattle

  • In reply to cesba:

columbus got one back , they down 3-1

  • In reply to cesba:

42' - Nyarko for Ristic......tough half for Ristic

  • In reply to cesba:

nyarko subbed in, for ristic - good thing, because we needed some speed badly

  • In reply to CountChocula:

did ristic get hurt or just out run?

  • In reply to Adam25:

little of both...but he went off limping after a foul

  • In reply to Adam25:

chavez at the 6 yard box hits the underside of the crossbar... i thot that was a certain goal

  • In reply to CountChocula:

    HOW DID HE MISS THAT?>>>>>?>???

  • In reply to CountChocula:

40' - Chaves narrowly missed scoring his second - off the crossbar!

  • In reply to CountChocula:

not the first time fire miss good chance to score

  • In reply to CountChocula:

colrado 3 portland 0 - matchcenter says its still 0-0 *grrrr*

  • In reply to CountChocula:

    danm!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to CountChocula:

dallas players trying to get a card on pappa - they just flopping whenver he touches them

  • In reply to CountChocula:

brek shea red card for DOGSO

  • In reply to CountChocula:

Terry Vaugh calls shows a pretty weak red card to Brek Shea

  • In reply to cesba:

no weaker than a couple of the reds chicago got in pre-season :p

he did foul chavez quite obviously and from behind

  • In reply to cesba:

fire forwards got some pace on them...

  • In reply to cesba:

    wow come on

  • In reply to cesba:

bigsoccer posted this link as a stream - i dont know how good it is

    http://www.justin.tv/dysreflex#

  • In reply to cesba:

    puerarri blows a 1 v 1 hartmann with a good save

chicago has dallas back on its heels now

  • In reply to cesba:

camera work needs some work, a little all over the place...

  • In reply to cesba:

Husidic for Videira is a good move

  • In reply to cesba:

yeh that yellow was dangerous to carry, vaughn looking like he wants to "take charge" of the game right now

  • In reply to cesba:

chicago defense really struggling to get the ball out of their defense properly

once they get it forward, they build up the attacks nicely

  • In reply to cesba:

orr barouch in for chavez - FIND THE NET ORR!

  • In reply to cesba:

FCD with a little too much possesion while a man down for my liking

  • In reply to cesba:

    segares yellow

  • In reply to cesba:

Puerari has already shown more than Nery Castillo playing the withdrawn forward position

  • In reply to cesba:

as much as castillo was offsides, i never really thot of him as a "withdrawn" forward

  • In reply to cesba:

Nyarko has to get that on net

  • In reply to cesba:

nyarkos speed has really change teh game, but he is a bit too lazy with his passing

  • In reply to cesba:

ferriera has been pretty well beat up this game - his free kicks not looking sharp late in the match

  • In reply to cesba:

Pause with an actual shot right at Hartman.

  • In reply to cesba:

Pause with a well struck shot saved by Hartman....nice game from Pause

  • In reply to cesba:

wish he'd shoot more often - it was a very nice shot

  • In reply to cesba:

Hartman has kept FCD in this one

  • In reply to cesba:

red card or not, hartmann had to do much more work than sean johnson - and that is a good sign for the fire - lots of scoring chances despite less possession

  • In reply to cesba:

1-1 Draw.....good effort against a good team. Maybe the Uruguayans can play.

  • In reply to cesba:

The best effort of the match for Fire came in stoppage time. Two great shots, two great saves by Hartman. Too bad. Lets just hope these guys figure out a way to stop putting 50/50 balls up from the back line; start passing from our third, bring it in to their third and take shots. There were way too many misplaced passes and absolutely terrible ball control for the most part. DLC has his work cut out for him...

  • In reply to mwaech1:

yeah possession is definately an issue

i do think most people would have been happy with a 1-1 draw before the match.

and i also believe chicago has more positives than negatives to take away from tonites match.

plenty of room for improvement, but i'm fine with the result

  • In reply to CountChocula:

When the schedule came out I said I would be happy with a tie in this game because the Fire rarely wins in Dallas.
However , this game should have been won as they had 3 amazing chances in the second half and one of those had to find the back of the net.
Just a kick in the as- when you give up a goal just a minute after you score , that happens often in indoor soccer but it should never happen outdoors.
Start Nyarko or trade him , he is needed on the field for more than just 45 minutes.
Chavez has that look of a guy that makes things happen.
I will still be happy with the tie as long as they go on and beat KC.
This is the year this team must start winning at home on there is no excuse for them not being able to win all of the next 3 at home.

  • In reply to mwaech1:

CSN post game show features talk of a game in Dallas.....unfortunately it was the Blackhawks 5-0 loss in Dallas....from Thursday. That talk is followed by a recap of yesterday's Bulls loss.

  • In reply to cesba:

After Toronto FC train wreck, their flagship station had a hour postgame show talking calls for TFC/Van game. The host was ripping on TFC and how horrible they look and talking about a long season coming.

  • In reply to cesba:

What makes this very bad is those 2 teams DID NOT PLAY Saturday. Comcast carried the game and they should have lead off with it being as the Hawks and Bulls were off and the baseball is spring training baseball.
You will not believe this , Kerry Sayers put womens basketball and high school basketball ahead of the Fire.
I have a theory why she did this , she is still on WSCR and we know the garbage people like Booers and Berstein do not like soccer , I think those 2 idiots hate themselves.
Hey Kerry ! Jill Carlson never di that as she always put the Fire on before women's and high school basketball and she gave the Storm scores every weekend.

  • In reply to mwaech1:

Not bad at all from the Fire with Puerari and Chaves. The defense still has problems; too much space for FC Dallas for opoortunites to score. Overall, it is a huge improvement from what I saw last year.

  • In reply to longoria3:

typo.......Overall, it is a huge improvement from what I saw compared to last year.

  • In reply to longoria3:

The fire definitely showed more heart and work rate then they did last season. The Uruguayans played pretty well, although they both missed great scoring chances. Nyarko has to play from the start. Pause was definitely the best player out there for the fire today, and pappa left a lot to be desired on the left side.

  • In reply to fire1020:

It seems like Pause is more comfortable with 5 midfielders when he gets more help than 4 midfielders.

  • In reply to fire1020:

GR -- I would love to know why Husidic didn't start. Great result given where we are coming from.

  • In reply to fire1020:

our wingers passing was very poor - both pappa and nyarko made some really bad passes even when not under pressure

nyarko did make a big difference with his speed tho - dallas and chicagos mentality completely changed when nyarko came in. he can be a key player just by being on the field, IMO

  • In reply to fire1020:

I'll have the recap up later tonight or early AM

  • In reply to fire1020:

i wore my tottenham shorts and fire shirt today and got 2 draws :o(

maybe next weekend i watch the matches nekkid

  • In reply to fire1020:

btw, brek shea did not impress me as a center back tonite - even if the red card had never happened

i'll be shocked if he plays all season at that position

  • In reply to fire1020:

look at the weather in the RSL/SJ match!

  • In reply to fire1020:

john busch makes a great save on grabavoy 1v1, then comes up injured

  • In reply to fire1020:

I have to look at the game again but it seemed to me that Pappa is still not confident at all in his right foot , there was a play in the second half where he looked like he was going to have a great chance at the left corner of the box and he tried to get it to his left foot and lost the ball. If he does not fix that this year , teams are going to take away space on his left side and dare him to beat them with his right foot.

  • In reply to FireStingDoug:

He did have a pretty good shot with his right foot early in the second half that went sailing over the bar, but it was struck well, and gave me hope that he worked on that a lot this off season. I think he knows that if he wants to become a great player that is something he will have to work on.

  • In reply to FireStingDoug:

Both the uruguayans impressed last night. I also think the quality of play in MLS keeps improving every year. Players used to not be able to trap long passes in the air, and have them fall directly to their feet, and now they can. The passing still needs some work at times, but just the control and first touches are getting better each year.

  • In reply to CountChocula:

fans really getting into it. LMAO

  • In reply to cesba:

pause actually doing a pretty good job on ferriera

  • In reply to CountChocula:

yep.....He's stoned him a few times

  • In reply to CountChocula:

FCD with a little more possesion but a decent first half for the Fire....1-1

  • In reply to cesba:

yeah, same old possession problem. but... it is vs last years runners up, and on the road. its not like the chicago goal has been under intense pressure all half, but sure would help if they could keep the ball a bit more

  • In reply to cesba:

MLS matchcenter still shows DC Utd 1 columbus 0 *sigh*

  • In reply to cesba:

    final NYRB 1 seattle 0

  • In reply to cesba:

    Stream anyone?

Not only can I not find one, neither the MLS website nor ESPN are updating the scores. I'm totally in the dark here.

  • In reply to cesba:

i dunno about a stream - watching it on tv myself

  • In reply to cesba:

espn site seems to have better luck getting the scores updated correctly

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/fixtures?league=usa.1&cc=5901

  • In reply to cesba:

DC utd scores - wolff, davies x2. colubmus - robbie rogers pk

  • In reply to cesba:

that's the big secret line up? good pace game. i can't beleive so many ppl at the game in dallas...

  • In reply to cesba:

    nyarko creates chicagos first corner

  • In reply to cesba:

Hey Comcast ! Either get into the business or get out of it !! You had no post game show so you could go right to the studio show and there was no need for it until midnight.
Get this , Sarah Kustock did a nice job talking about the new players , but the whole show was so disjointed , they were confused as to where they were on the highlights of all of the games which leads me to believe Sarah assumed there was going to be a Fire post game show and they were not prepared to go on the air in the studio.
