The Fire are holding their annual open tryouts at the Bridgeview Sports Dome today and tomorrow. The Sun-Times' Len Ziehm has a short preview here and HotTimeInOldTown has a look at the tryout format here.
The Fire are also providing tryout coverage here. With 209 players participating and travellers coming from as far as China and Bolivia it's a busy weekend for assistant coach Larry Sunderland, who is running the tryouts. Although it's a long shot that any of the trialists make the final roster there are qualified players participating. Former UIC goalkeeper FC Dallas and Portland Timbers defender Steve Purdy is trying to make the team.

You can say that again, RedLine55!!!
GR,
Any word on when the league will be releasing the full season schedule? Or when the Fire will be releasing the new jersey for 2011/12?
New schedule in February and new jersey sponsor is anybody's guess.
Our old friend, Wilman Conde, is playing for Atlas (v. Morelia) on Galavision right now. Long time no see, Wilman.
haha, and he just scored a pretty excellent goal (header) off a corner! Gonna miss that...
RedLine55, Atlas is winning 3-0 in the 2nd half with nobody in the crowd.
yeah, why is that? I didn't look in to it at all, but I'm assuming there's a good reason. It's not like "FC Dallas no one in the crowd", it seems like the public wasn't admitted. You know?
Who knows but it makes FC Dallas and Colorado crowds look like the Seattle Sounders.
Hopefully speaking to Frank Klopas today from the Combine. Stay tuned.....
I noticed when Greg Vanney left RSL for Chivas that he was one of 6"technical people" at the club, and would have to be replaced. How many technical people do the Fire have? I get the impession the Fire technical staff are few and that staff levels are below many MLS teams.
