The Fire have added former Uruguayan international Leo Percovich to the coaching staff as first assistant to Carlos De Los Cobos. Percovich was most recently an assistant to Preki at Toronto FC and Chivas USA while also acting as the Colorado Rapids goalkeepers coach in 2006-2007.
Percovich fills the spot vacated by Mike Matkovich after last season.

Love it! South American skill plus the physical aspect associated with Uruguay!! Does this foretell a Uruguayan player???
I would like Diego Forlan.
Yeah and please pass the mushrooms you're eating!!
Yeah and please pass the mushrooms you're eating!
oh man, don't even mention Diego. I would wet my pants
I have extra mushrooms for you and shortpasses. :)
This move is pretty transparent; the front office is waiting for CDC to underperform this season so that they can get rid of him (Hauptman won
That's an interesting theory....Preki certainly has Fire ties. He played with Klopas at Kansas City from 1996-1997 and he coached at Chivas USA while Javier Leon was there in 2006 and 2007.
Preki is aweful and proved that the last few years. His players become cheap shot artists and his teams play ugly, grunge soccer. The fact that this coach learned under Preki should be a warning sign not an encouragement.
Preki's coaching style is surely dissimilar to his playing style. He seems to have angered alot of people on the way out the door at both Chivas and TFC as well.

A connection to uruguay can't hurt. Obviously there's some great talent coming out of that country. On a side note, there are some amazing beaches there if anyone is looking for a beach vacay a bit outside of the typical destinations.
