New Jersey Sponsor in 2011

Best Buy's initial uniform sponsorship deal with the Fire expired at the end of this season and it's been speculated for some time that the relationship would not continue into 2011.  A release from Best Buy and the Fire today officially puts an end to the speculation.  The Fire are now in the market for a new jersey sponsor.

The Best Buy/Fire agreement signed in 2008 coincided with the arrival of Cuauthemoc Blanco in Chicago and helped the chain store gain exposure in the hispanic community amid plans of extending more stores into Mexico.

The task of finding a new sponsor falls to new team President Julian Posada, who replaced Dave Greeley in September.

How about Media Cafe logo on their jerseys?

Clarence Seedorf is still interested in MLS but it may be AFTER his playing days are over at Milan......

  • In reply to cesba:

IMO, it is a very good chance that Seedorf will be coming to the MLS at some point next year especially he is not starting for AC Milan and talks of Ronaldinho possibly coming to play in the MLS as well.

  • In reply to longoria3:

Question: Will a MLS franchise offer Seedorf 3 year 6 million dollar deal?

  • In reply to longoria3:

Sounds like he wants to retire at Milan and come to the US as a player agent or representative of some sort.

  • In reply to longoria3:

I've always thought Fire shirts would look just fine with Toyota on them. The logo (either just that symbol, or the whole name) looks good on other footy jerseys, and it makes too much sense with the stadium and all that.

I just hope it's not something weird like ComEd or Comcast... which it may well be.

  • In reply to RedLine55:

On second though, after reading the name of this post again, I'm completely in favor of the state of New Jersey ponying up some cash. Would it make a lick of sense? Absolutely not, but it would be funny. And with this club, one needs to find the humor in it all sometimes.

  • In reply to RedLine55:

LOL....I looked at it that way too after I posted it.

I figure the state of New Jersey owes the entire United States some monetary compensation for spawning the likes of the Jersey Shore cast.

McDonald's. The food in TP is not very good and way overpriced. And they're a Chicago-based company.

  • In reply to longoria3:

Or Boeing, because their logo would look cooler on the jerseys. Still, I feel like the Fire are definitely losing when they dump Best By. It was one of the three jersey sponsors in the league that you have heard of before. (Red Bull and Volkswagen)

Did Wilman Conde and Kanye West release an album?

  • In reply to cesba:

The FIRE could use more brand recognition, maybe the club could put the team's name on the front.

If they're more interested in stuff like money and return on investment that helps make a business survive, then go big . . . like Bridgeview Bank. I wouldn't be surprised. :-)

  • Oui, Oui port-a-pottys. It's a real company

  • In reply to Janjo:

Would be fitting for the current state of the team...

Someone call Gene Simmons. I had an epiphany :
KISS. Gene + (Hot) Girls + Rock'n Roll + Beer = one hell of a halftime show + eternal season ticket sales + fun
They can keep Calen and Banner for life as long as there is a pole in the middle of the field.

We are so excited, I work with the Chicago Fire and we are busy busy busy! If anyone is interested in great seats for next year you better hurry. Season tickets are going crazy quick with all these transistions. Limited seats. 708-496-6764 Zachary Dicken

This is some kind of joke, right? Next thing you're going to tell us is that there's a waiting list to get season tickets. This is funny funny funny.

Not totally unexpected. The Riot will be next.

  • In reply to ZachChiFire:

The only reason the Season tickets are going crazy is that they are lonely and neglected.

Here's the list of players eligible for Stage 2 of the Re-entry Draft. Pretty much the same list as stage 1 (with 3 exceptions).....

  • In reply to cesba:

If nobody picks these guys up, MLS should re-sign them all and make a "house team" out that motley crew.

The House Team would only play road games, they would be the Washington Generals (or Team America) of the league and play under the name "Cosmos". Fitting.

  • In reply to fireman451:

That makes me think of the old NASL.

They had a team called Team America which was made up of USMNT players. They failed miserably.

  • In reply to cesba:

That was my point my good man. I'm actually old enough to say I witnessed the glory that was Team America and attended a few NASL games that made third round US Open Cup matches at TP/Naperville/Peoria feel like you were attending the Super Bowl.
