Happy Holidays Everyone.
A special thanks to you Guillermo for all of your hard
work and efforts in keeping us all informed.
Hopping for a Great 2011 Chicago Fire Season.
Merry Christmas to all my fellow fire fans and a big thank you to G for a great year of soccer coverage.
Happy Christmas Guillermo. I hope you spent it well with your family.
Hope you had a great Christmas too Giaco!
Merry Christmas to all. I love it when I see people say Merry Christmas , the media is trying to outlaw the words Merry Christmas but they will never win.
merry Xmas Doug.
Guillermo, Cant you invent a rumor or two, for the love of god, I'm suffering football withdrawal pains here. It seems the Fire are in most need but are the least active. if Morales rumor is for real the Fire front office is caught n a time warp and we are in for an awful year. The expansion teams are in better shape than we are.
The Morales rumor is bunk. Things will heat up after the first of the year.
Guillermo, For years I have been hearing how progressive the Fire is when it comes to youth development. I notice Dallas and other teams, even Phillie, have more youth signings to the MLS team, more players on the national youth teams, and more real and potential signings of players from their academy that can be removed from the College Draft and claimed as home grown. Indeed, the fire seems well down the list of successful youth programs in terms of the only criteria that counts, signings. Have we been getting a snow job all these years, all spin and little substance?
celt, don't be lazy on the stats end, you can get those off of the Fire's page about the academy--I won't provide the link.....I'm tto lazy :P
The Fire's academy has done very well in competitions and call-ups. The reason you haven't seen more signing sout of it though is that the Fire's first team technical staff isn't going to sign someone just to do so. Victor is/was ready for the transition, and ould get first team time very soon. We'll really see how that pans out with the return of the reserve league this coming season. A few other teams have decent academies--Dallas and Vancouver (most notably), and have signed players from there to bolster their line-ups.
To me though, a lot of it feels a bit like the nuclear arms race or outer space exploration...first to say 'we were there, we did that' sort of thing, you know?
Giaco, I read that stuff but winning silverware is not the object. DC, NYRB, Houston, Dallas, Revs all appear to have more national team players and more academy players of real potential than the Fire. E
Celt,
That's a good point and definitely one of the questions that I have for Klopas, if I can ever get him to sit down and answers some questions in between scouting trips.
Was going to prattle on but an errant finger posted that so will go back to watching EPL. Not convinced the hype over the years matches the reality
geez, I am a lazy typer some days and my speling and spacing can be waaaaaay of.
geesh.
That's my department!!
JCO's drag name is Kitty Kitty Bang Bang...
Klopas likes Ketchup on his Gyros...
and Banner can't pull up his shorts until he puts his socks and cleats first.
Hopefully that will tie you down until after New Year.
Happy Holidays to Everybody!!! Protein shakes with a little Eggnog y'all!!

I'd prefer an update on a player acquisition or two.
Lamer than a mustard sandwich on wonder bread.
My interview would go something like "really Mike, really??"
Fans don't mind discounts? Really?
Fans already signed up for 2011 in an alarming rate? Really?
There is now a waiting list for season tickets? Really?
Really? Really?
oft injured harry kewell also possible future MLS player

would be nice, but i don't see it happening. i really don't see how they can make next year's team a championship contender unless that invest a butt load of cash into player signings.
2014 could be a BIG year for MLS

I'm still convinced 2056 will be a great year for the MLS...
There are much better ways of courting Ben Gay and Depends as sponsors for thr the league...

If Freddie does go to Celtic then we will have so much cap space that we could sign anyone that we want...
We'll see what sort of monetary offer Celtic makes Ljungberg. I'm pretty sure it won't be the 3 mill per he's looking for.
