Crew Loses in PK's - Rapids Advance

The Columbus Crew bowed out of the MLS playoffs in the most agonizing way possible.  Losing on penalty kicks at home.  Not only did they blow a 2-1 aggregate lead by allowing a late Conor Casey goal but the elimination came down to the final kick of the regular PK round.  After all five Rapids players converted PK's and all four Crew players hit theirs, Brian Carroll stepped up with a chance to move the teams into 1 off eliminations.  Carroll skied the kick over the cross-bar and ensured that the last of the Eastern Conference teams was going home.

The "Eastern Conference" final will now feature a goalkeeper match up with some familiar sounding names.  Matt Pickens verus Jon Busch.

  • The MLS should change the playoff format (i.e. 1 seed vs. 8 seed, 4 seed vs. 5 seed and etc). Warzycha should start feeling some heat in Columbus for failing to take his team further in the playoffs after they won the MLS Championship in 2008. Why did he take out Rogers for Lenhart and I never heard of that Burns guy? Just curious even though I am not a Crew and Rapids fan. That game was a snoozer.
