CJ Brown To Retire

When asked about his plans for next season after the Kansas City match on October 12 CJ Brown suggested that he had not arrived at a decision yet.  It seems that Brian McBride's final match this past weekend struck a chord with the future Ring Of Fire inductee.  According to this article Brown is retiring at the end of this season.

His leadership in the lockerroom and class on and off the field will surely be missed.

  • Thanks for 13 years CJ... a true Chicago Fire player!

  • When I think of the Fire I think of CJ Brown. Big ups to a Fire original and thanks for all your passion, leadership and hard work! Go Fire!!!

  • In reply to Drew:

If Ernie Banks is Mr. Cub, Brown is Mr. Fire. Thirteen years with one club and the only remaining player from the original Fire team in 1998 is pretty impressive.

  • In reply to Drew:

He was a true example of some one that left it all in field. He will be sorely missed, I just wish he were leaving on a higher note like a winning season, US Open Cup, MLS Cup, hell even a SuperLiga would've been nice. However for CJ it was truely all about playing his best for the team and that's what made him Mr. Chicago Fire. Here's to you Mr. Brown, there will never be another #2 that means so much for the Fire, you will always be in Fire fans' hearts.

  • In reply to Drew:

Thank You Coach Brown, I mean CJ.....One of the good guys!

  • In reply to Drew:

CJ Brown should serve as team ambassador. Thirteen years playing for one team, he has paid his dues. McBride and Brown Soccer Hall of Fame considerations down the road.

  • In reply to Drew:

You can't say enough about him. Brown is the Fire. Too bad there isn't another home match to honor him they way they honored McBride.

  • In reply to Drew:

Great honor to watch CJ go to battle for the Fire, a player who brought such energy, intensity, and passion to the Fire every game!
Sad to see him go and with McBride leaving as well we are truely in a rebuilding year next year, as well as we have been this year with a new coach unfamiliar with MLS soccer.
Big shoes to fill but I see lots of good promise in Kwame...to bad Baky isn't here, but happy Sega came back...hopefully Boca is coming soon too! GO FIRE!!!!
