  • De Los Cobos sticks with the 4-5-1 as Castillo is on the bench to start the match.

  • where's nyarko? did i miss something?

  • In reply to CountChocula:

    Count,
Nyarko is out with a recurrence of concussion symptoms.

  • In reply to CountChocula:

Scoreless first half and Henry leaves with a muscle strain.

The Fire had a few good chances although they didn't manage a shot on goal. New York seemed happy to counter and registered 2 shots on goal.

  • In reply to CountChocula:

well fire played a reasonably mistake free half. NYRB seemed to have possession edge, but not nearly as bad as we've been seeing the Fire with possession lately.

all in all a decent half, with castillo and john yet to play, while henry is done, i'd say this is a positive half for chicago

  • In reply to CountChocula:

bad bad start to 2nd half tho. wake up Fire!

  • In reply to CountChocula:

castillo in., the fire look re-energized

  • In reply to CountChocula:

they are really pickin on krol tonite. he has not looked good

  • In reply to CountChocula:

ljungberg, pause, conde have all played quite well tonite IMO

  • In reply to CountChocula:

congrats to Sean Johnson for his 1st MLS shutout - and well earned!

  • In reply to CountChocula:

They treated Banner like a 12 year old.. he lost every ball he had.. then looks for the foul.. sorry, no soup for you.

  • In reply to CountChocula:

So much talent on the pitch, it was a real disparity with Banner, Krol and Pause compared to the rest.

  • In reply to CountChocula:

For strarters I'd say don't sit in the corner near the trumpets. Loud, ubnoxious, can't sit DOWN. And brawls, which only escalate once security arrives, nice job by them. On the match though, It was pretty cool to see all the stars. Potm were pause, Johnson and ljungberg. They each did excellent. I think ljungberg gave the most exciting fore performance I've seen in a while, my new fav fire player. Once nery came in it seemed like our attack and possession died. The fire need a cf like John or mcbride to be in there. Castillo should have come in for banner or pappa, him for mcbride was a bad swap. Putting 2 defenders in late in the game was dissapointing from DLC.

  • In reply to CountChocula:

How many games will the Fire end the match with no possession and having their goal peppered with shots? Nice to see all of the new faces but this is not the way to end every match...DLC seems to be unable to make decent tactical changes during the match. Johnson looked very good again!

  • In reply to CountChocula:

The only thing worse than a bad player is a bad player with a lot of confidence. Mike Banner thinks he can beat any defender but really he cant even dribble in bounds. He offers nothing to this team and hopefully he finds himself deep on the bench coming up. I would have liked to see Nery come in for Baggio and moved Freddie back deeper. But Castillo wasn't very effective because no one was playing him the ball when they needed too. I think the players around him have never seen runs like the ones he was making. He was all over the place and if people would have played him the ball at the right time or at all he would have been a lot more effective. Freddie played really well and we will be dangerous for sure in the future. Logan played really well today also.

CJ played his worse game in 2 years tonight. He looked like he had no idea what to do tonight. Random kicking the ball nowhere. Terrible, slow defending in 1v1 situation. Miss communication all night long. We got beat on every headball in the box tonight and are lucky Johnson is playing the way he is or we would have lost last week and again this week.

Oh and if I wasn't clear enough in the beginning of this, MIKE BANNER BLOWS...

  • In reply to Rubberbandman189:

Don't blame Banner, blame Carlos de los Moron, he's the one who put him there.
Don't see why Lowery hasn't played more, in view of Banner starts.
What the Fire needs is a designated coach, half the season over, team hasn't shown any growth. Great game for Sean, if it wasn't for him and Freddie, Fire would have had their butts kicked. Didn't think Pause played that badly, compared to others.
No left side attack, too many Fire players bunched up on the right side, no sense of spacing or shape.
2nd. half reminded me of Holland against Spain, Fire was luckier. Lost all
shape after McBride left. Thought the coach would have taken out Banner for the first sub
in the second half. Long goalie punts isn't attacking football, can't blame Sean though, defense left too many unmarked players, Krol had a poor game. Game officials wanting as usual for the MLS.

I can blame Banner for being a terrible soccer player. There are a lot of bad players in MLS but the difference between them is, some know they are bad and some don't. The ones that know they are bad don't try to dribble people in the middle of the field in their defensive half. They can keep the ball in bounds when they are 10 feet from the sidelines and they get rid of the ball quickly. Mike Banner doesn't do any of those things. He also can't play defense to save his life. He gets knocked off the ball when the defender just looks at him. I wouldn't mind if we traded him for a conditional draft pick in 2015.

On your Lowry point, where would he play? He shouldn't replace Baggio because he has been playing well. He shouldn't replace Pause because we might need him the most out of any player on the field. Someone has to sit and its him. Soon it will be Baggio also.
