Two Teams...One Goal

I understand there's a hockey game being played tomorrow night during the Fire v Rapids match.

In order to keep fans of both the Blackhawks and Fire updated on both games (and persuade a few not to stay home), the Fire will be showing the Hawks-Flyers Game 6 on the jumbo tron before the game and at half time.

The "Two Teams One Goal" slogan comes from a fan made banner hanging from the upper deck at Toyota Park this past Saturday.

  • Good idea, but thats what I got the dvr for.

  • I get that they want to support the blackhawks(OK, kind of get it. I don't really see the point, but I get that they want to) but do they have to play that song after WE score a goal too? We have our own song that we play after we score! I like it! its catchy! When do we cross the line from respecting and supporting to downright copying? I guess this is kind of a stupid thing to rant about, but whatever.

I think playing Chelsea Dagger last weekend was a jab at Philly for coming out in Flyers kits. Now if they do it again tonight, well...

It's paying respect to the Blackhawks when they're deep into the playoffs and the whole city is going crazy for the team. (Tonight = permissable)... it's copying once the playoffs are over.

Thus ruleth me: The ultimate judge of what's acceptable over the sound system.(*)

I have a few extra tickets to the match tonight and nobody wants them, these brand new hockey fans all would rather watch the Blackhawks in a bar than go to the Fire game. I remember going to a Hawks game 5 years ago and paying 10 bucks and then walking all the way down because nobody was there, now they're selling cup tickets for the price of used cars. It's funny how a team with a small fan base was able to quickly win over the entire city and charge crazy prices for tickets just by winning. It would be nice if the Fire were to use this formula to grow the fan base. With both baseball teams looking like trash after the Stanley Cup everyone will be looking towards Bears Football, the Fire could definitely make new fans if they had a winning team.

Step one is a winning product. Step two is getting every single media outlet in town to buy into the hype machine.

  • In reply to JohnG:

agreed, the media doesnt give Fire much coverage.
