Mid Week Injury Report & US Open Cup Opponent

With a the World Cup buzz it's easy to overlook the fact that MLS resumes play this weekend.  The Fire travel to New England on Sunday night, with the early injury report being released today.

CHICAGO FIRE -- OUT: FW Calen Carr (R quad strain); MF John Thorrington (L quad strain)

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION -- OUT: DF Darrius Barnes (R ankle sprain); GK Preston Burpo (R leg surgery); FW Taylor Twellman (concussion)

Tim Ward is no longer on the injury report but John Thorrington's frustrations continue.  On the Revs side, Matt Reis is back and so is Steve Ralston.  Ralston suffered a nasty elbow injury in a friendly but he's not listed on the report.

US Open Cup

The Charleston Battery defeated the Carolina Railhawks tonight in US Open Cup second round play by a score of 2-1.  The Battery advances to next Tuesday's match in Toyota Park against the Fire.

    Ward is close to 100% but he apparently won't be ready by Sunday. According to Sam he's shooting for Tuesday.

    The Revolution annouced today that Twellman's season is over after placing him on injured reserve.

    Although he's not listed on the report, Steve Ralston is reportedly out of action for 4-6 weeks.
