Fire at Wrigley?

Luis Arroyave writes about the possibility of a match between the Fire and Club America at Wrigley Field.  Apparently the Cubs and the Fire have discussed it but nothing has been set.  It would be nice to see soccer at Wrigley again.  Read the article here in Luis' "About Last Night" blog.

  • Omg, Ellis island flashback?? Poor Conn.

  • Related to the subject of the Fire and Club America...did anyone catch the Mexico-Italy friendly yesterday?!?

El Tri looked pretty solid in my estimation; and BOY did Temo execute a beautiful feed to Alberto Medina for the game winning goal!

The "good Blanco" was on full display when he came on as a sub late in the 2nd half--superb vision, creativity.

I'm not sure if bringing him back to the Fire is the wisest move, but yesterday's game was one of those times where he just REALLY impressed.

I think Group A is going to be an interesting one to watch with El Tri, hosts South Africa, France & Uruguay.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Mexico & Uruguay advance.

That's who I have in my brackets for grupo A.

Love the idea of them playing at Wrigley. Maybe we could get it on the radio!

Because listening to the game is so much better than being there or watching on TV...

I dont really understand playing the game in a baseball stadium. If we are going to go into the city and are expecting at least 40000, then why not go to Soldier Field? There isnt going to be a good seat anywhere. The field will have to be at an angle, which is just weird.

  • In Group A, France still has alot of talent but they have alot of issues.

Mexico is using Blanco as a second half substitute and he's been delivering.

  • The Sting last played at Wrigley Field in 1984 , it would really be a trip back in time if the Fire ever plays there.

That is right.....They played the New York Cosmos that year. I have a copy of that game, it seemed like it was a hot day; that was a offensive juggernaut. Also, did they play the Rowdies that season at Wrigley?
