Saturday Game Day

Here are a few notes before the match today.........

The injury list for both teams:

Out: M Ciaran O'Brien, F Ross Schunk

Doubtful: G Ian Joyce

Questionable: M Jamie Smith

Probable: D Julien Baudet, F Conor Casey (foot sprain), F Omar Cummings (knee sprain)

Questionable: M John Thorrington (quad strain), F Calen Carr (quad strain), D Wilman Conde (foot contusion)

Probable: F Patrick Nyarko (ankle contusion)

It will be interesting to see if Casey and Cummings are both 100%.  Needless to say, if Conde is not able to go the Fire will have big problems.

The Sun Times Len Ziehm confirms that Krzystof Krol was sick last week with this quote from Carlos De Los Cobos.

"Krzystof was sick last week and practiced maybe only two days."

The article goes on to say that Mike Banner started at left back since he played the position last year.  Hopefully that combined with the pace of Dane Richards prompted DLC to start Banner and not because he believes that Krol is too slow or that Mike Banner is better than Krol.

The Rapids signed former Kansas City Wizard designated player Claudio Lopez to a contract.  It is highly unlikely that Lopez is available today.

MLS Picks

I'm going to give this a shot since I usually do pretty well with MLS picks.  Of course, that being said I'll probably go 0-3 with these.

Fire 1 Rapids 1 (Pappa and Casey find the net)

DC 1 NE 0 (both teams are bad but NE is without Shalrie Joseph again this week)

SEA 2 NY 1 (Let's see what NY can do on a faster pitch.  Seattle wins although NY is much improved.)

  • Did we work out a tv contract yet? Is this game on tv today?

  • In reply to Rubberbandman189:

The TV deal has been worked out but for some reason the Fire has not made an official announcement. The game today is on Telefutura.

Next Saturday's home opener will be on Comcast Sports Net.

  • Please don't tell me that Logan Pause is starting. If he is, what does De Los Cobos see in this guy. I want to see Baggio Husidic play in that position. Pause was the guy who was responsible for defending Lindpere and winded up scoring for New York.

  • In reply to longoria3:

Calm down. With your logic any defender that gets scored on should not start the next match? Pause is our defensive midfielder, get over it.
