Fire to play Dynamo in penultimate preseason friendly

Houston Dynamo v New England Revolution

The Fire announced last night that they will be taking on fellow MLS side the Houston Dynamo in their second-to-last friendly of the preseason. The match will kick off this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Carl Lewis Track and Field Complex in Houston. The Fire had originally planned to travel to New Orleans for their final regular season tune-up, but instead decided to head to Texas for the final stop of their preseason tour. The club will head to Houston tomorrow and depart for Chicago on Friday -- the day after the match.

It's good to see the Fire go up against another MLS team in the run-up to the regular season. Both teams will likely field strong lineups, and the Dynamo will provide a strong test for the Fire.

As has been the case with all of the Fire's preseason friendlies, the club will be providing live updates about the match via their twitter account.

  • I sure wish someone with the Fire would bring a camera so we could at least see some highlights of these friendlies. Would have liked to see the three goal against FCD.

  • The usual question - when will we know about John? Also, any idea whether there will be any friendlies this summer against an EPL team? There are rumors of Man City, Man United and Tottenham playing some preseason matches in the US - maybe (hopefully) in Chicago?

As of right now, there aren't any matches featuring EPL teams in Chicago. We'll see if that changes. As for John, Steve Goff is reporting that he and the Fire haven't been able to come to an agreement and that the striker will return to Europe.

    Sam,

Goff is reporting that the Fire and Collins John have not been able to come to an agreement on contract terms and John is now planning to head back to Europe.

Can you get any word on this from Klopas? This would be a real shame.

I'm currently awaiting confirmation. I'll update as soon as I have anything.

  • Curious if anyone can find out how the CBA meeting went today? From what I heard there aren't any EPL matches in Chicago.
