Chivas USA became the second of five teams to fill their hole at head coach yesterday, [when they hired former Chivas USA, L.A. Galaxy and Bayern Munich Assistant Martin Vasquez to lead the squad](http://www.socceramerica.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Articles.showArticleHomePage&art_aid=35603).
Vasquez (who is on the far right in the adjacent photo) replaces former Chivas USA and current Toronto FC Head Coach Preki at the helm of the Los Angeles club.
The hiring ends the possibility that Vasquez will be named the Fire's head coach this offseason. The only likely remaining candidates for the Fire who possess MLS experience are former Kansas City head man Curt Onalfo, current Interim Head Coach of Red Bull New York Richie Williams, former Fire player/assistant coach Chris Armas, and former D.C. United Head Coach Tom Soehn ([if he doesn't end up in Vancouver...](http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-fire-confidential/2009/12/fire-to-hold-open-tryouts-december-8-9-messi-wins-ballon-dor-and-more.html)).
Vasquez is the fifth head coach in the five year history of Chivas USA, which also interviewed Steve Sampson and Onalfo for the job.
I'll be back later on in the day with another piece so be sure to check back for that. Until then, feel free to share your thoughts on the hiring of Vasquez and the Fire's coaching search (which I should have an update on soon...) in the comments section below.
