MLS [announced it's 2009 Best XI today](http://web.mlsnet.com/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20091116&content_id=7672578&vkey=pr_mls&fext=.jsp) and one Fire player, defender Wilman Conde, made the list. It's the first time on the Best XI for the 27-year-old Conde, who made the list despite missing 11 regular season games due to injury.
The honor caps a solid season for Conde, who was a rock in the back for the Fire and even contributed two goals and two assists on the year. Conde also participated in this year's All-Star Game, signifying his solid year-round efforts for the club.
Conde is one of three defenders who made the Best XI. Columbus's Chad Marshall and Houston's Geoff Cameron join Conde on the Best XI backline.
Congratulations to Wilman for the honor. He was the Fire's best defender all year long and he fully deserved to be named to this list. Unfortunately though, this could be the last honor Conde receives as a member of the Fire. He still has a year remaining on his contract but -- given the discontent he has felt throughout his tenure with the Fire -- could be leaving Chicago this off season. Here's how the full Best XI shook out.
Forwards: Jeff Cunningham (FC Dallas), Conor Casey (Colorado)
Midfielders: Freddie Ljungberg (Seattle), Shalrie Joseph (New England), Landon Donovan (L.A.), Stuart Holden (Houston), Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto)
Defenders: Wilman Conde (Fire), Geoff Cameron (Houston), Chad Marshall (Columbus)
Goalkeeper: Zach Thornton (Chivas USA)
