Ask Denis Hamlett

I'll be talking with Denis Hamlett tomorrow so the time is now for you guys to pose questions to the Fire's Head Man.  Try and post your questions by 10:30 a.m. tomorrow and I'll do my best to get them answered.  No guarantees this time though, as I will be speaking to Hamlett via teleconference -- meaning the number of questions I ask will be somewhat limited.

Ask away.

  • Please ask him about mcbrides health and is he'll be ready to go for saturday!! Because we definiltey need him for the ENTIRE game!!

and just to add to that ...
Why havent the fire (with the exception to blanco) barely able to read mcbride and feed him the ball at the right times. They just always seem to have countless of oppurtunities to do so but they just cant seem to connect with him at the most oppurtunistic times where he can be truly deadley.

  • In reply to fadil44:

Because hes slow and when he gets the ball he loses it

    Hamlett,

What strengths does Real Salt Lake possess that you need to pay extra attention to on defense and how do you plan on replicating the same speed and control of the game as last week?

  • In reply to fadil44:

    DH:
Do you usually specially assign players to 'mark' threats? If so, who will be marking Findley?
If McBride is out of the picture, will Rolfe start at forward? What about Nyarko? Off the bench?

  • In reply to fadil44:

How do you guard players from looking past RSL?

  • In reply to fadil44:

Mapp looked strong his last couple outings. What is the outlook for him to come in to spell someone from the midfield?

  • In reply to fadil44:

Robbie Findley poses a challenge because of his exceptional speed. With the Fire back line not exactly swift of foot (especially with Woolard in there) can we expect to see Banner start or will Woolard resume his duties at left back if Segares can't go?

  • In reply to fadil44:

Shouldn't Patrick Nyarko be rewarded for his play this past Saturday with a start vs. Real Salt Lake? I love Brian McBride, but he's not exactly swift of foot anymore and he's coming off a game that he had to leave because of injury. If McBride is healthy, will he start for sure?

  • In reply to fadil44:

I completely and as nice as I can disagree. We do not need mcbride the entire game and the last game proved that. Mcbride is slow and holds back the run of play. Hes past his prime. You can go back to previous threads to read my thoughts on Mcbride, none the less, Nyarko showed he can pressure defenses and spark an attack, what a forward should do.
