Fire Practice Report to come tomorrow

I'll be heading out to the Fire's practice tomorrow and I was wondering if there was anything in particular you guys wanted to know/wanted me to ask.  Feel free to post any questions you would like to see posed to Denis Hamlett or any player and (if they are reasonable) I'll try and get them answered for you.

If you want a question asked try and post it tonight as I'll be heading out pretty early tomorrow morning.  Otherwise, just look out for the report to come your way tomorrow.

I'll try and get some more info on this tomorrow Waamsy. Quick warning though, the info gleaned probably won't be straight from Blanco's mouth. I'll see what I can do though.

Why did the Fire feel it was unnecessary to fill the roster spot vacated by Soumare when the majority of their injuries are at the defensive positions? If they felt that there was noone qualified to fill the roster spot, why did several MLS teams sign quality MLS defenders in the last few weeks? Was the decision not to fill the spot strictly a cost savings measure?

What is the plan with regards to the starting forwards now that Mcbride has returned? Will we see McBride/Rolfe on top with Blanco behind them or will we see McBride/Blanco as forwards with Rolfe slipping back into the midfield?

If Blanco is playing behind two forwards what does that do to the formation and starters in the midfield?

What is the plan for handling Columbus' speed on the wings with Rogers and Gaven since Robinson had trouble outisde with Real Salt Lake and Prideaux is just slow? Doesn't this call for adding another defender with some speed since Segares and Ward aren't readinly available? Woolard is not fast either and Ward may be done for a long while and Banner is not a real defender.

Who exactly was reponsible for knowing that Blanco's visa expired last week?

  • hamlet,,,,why dont they practice on the main field more often? i think you should know that pitch like the back of your hand..maybe its a stupid question...

  • In reply to bert:

Not a stupid question bert, but it is one that I can answer myself. They don't practice out on the main field more often because of concerns with the turf. They want to have it in tip-top shape for gameday (both for the Fire and Red Stars) and the field takes kind of a pounding throughout the summer with a lot of games and a lot of concerts, so it's understandable that the Fire don't want to subject to any more wear-and-tear by practicing on it.

  • In reply to SamuelStejskal:

The main field is grass which takes more maintaince then turf.

  • In reply to SamuelStejskal:

It was said the Fire have plan out their roster for the remaining games. What is the starting 11 that is expected to play? If the organization is so focus on this season, what can we expect come playoff time (assuming we get few more wins)?

  • In reply to SamuelStejskal:

Beside Pause, Busch and Mapp who has contract beyond 2009?

  • In reply to SamuelStejskal:

    Bert,
I think I could have taken Soumare too.

  • In reply to SamuelStejskal:

    One more Sam.

How come the Fire didn't just make a trade for a defender from one of the teams that were out of the running of the playoffs?

  • In reply to bert:

    guillermo for coach

  • In reply to bert:

    I second that nomination!

  • In reply to bert:

Hamlett-Who are your top 4 priority players to keep for next season?
Also B-mac-Is there any chance at all of re-injury or are you now full 100%?

  • In reply to bert:

Looks like they have added a Costa Rican defender. Good to know they're not sleeping after all.

  • In reply to bert:

Yeah could you find out why the final roster spot wasn't filled, and what was their reason behind this?

Also back to James Sinclair, i was believed that he may return to train with the team. Why did they dismiss bringing him back in? He could have tied in well dealing with the pace of the Columbus' wings.

Do the fire feel they should have been more respectable to Rolfe with his salery??
