It's Finally Official: Soumare transferred to Boulogne

Kansas City Wizards v Chicago Fire

Well after months of rumors and a few days of unofficial reports, [the transfer of the now former Fire Defender Bakary Soumare to Boulogne](http://chicago.fire.mlsnet.com/news/team_news.jsp?ymd=20090826&content_id=6629654&vkey=news_chf&fext=.jsp&team=t100) of the French First Division has finally gone through.

Of course, this news is merely a formality at this point -- I think we all knew Baky was going to go to the newly promoted club -- but all the same, the official aspect of it makes it a little more real.

Here's the statement from Fire Technical Director Frank Klopas regarding Baky's move.

"We would like to thank Bakary Soumare for his contributions to this club and wish him the best in his future playing career," said Klopas.

I'll certainly try and talk to Baky about the move if he ever shows at Toyota Park again, but at the very least, I should be able to get Diego Gutierrez's (Baky's agent) take at some point.

  • Frank Klopas please don't let my FIRE fall to pieces! Pappa was a great find for the midfield. Surely You can find some exceptional centerbacks. Fabbio Cannavaro anyone. FIRE4EVER

  • In reply to Booglet:

My thoughts exactly. And if we don't win MLS Cup or at least make the final, Hamlett should be fired.
