After having the last couple days off, the Fire held an intense practice today. Here are a few notes from the training session... **Seattle Reaction:**
Today's practice was the first for the Fire since their 0-0 draw at Seattle on Saturday and the team was impressed with the atmosphere at the game in Washington.
"It was unbelievable," said Head Coach Denis Hamlett. "I've been around since day one of this league and you really have to tip your hat off to Seattle. They've done an unbelievable job with fan support and everything is first class. I think the buzz and the noise in there throughout the whole game is something that every MLS team looks forward to playing in."
I asked Hamlett (an MLS original) if he had ever experienced an atmosphere like the one in Seattle in his 13 years in the league...
"Not really," he said. "Toronto to some extent but... I think [Seattle's] just done an unbelievable job and it's nice to see. You hope that more and more teams throughout our league can get on board and kind of have things along the same lines as them."
**All Star Hopes:**
The Fire has three representatives (Bakary Soumare, Cuauhtemoc Blanco and Wilman Conde) in tonight's All Star Game in Salt Lake City and the club is hoping everything goes well for them tonight.
"I hope they all get in and I hope they all do well," said Hamlett.
The three players (barring any injury tonight) will all be available for Saturday's match.
Midfielder John Thorrington wasn't at practice today. Thorrington is in Salt Lake City for the MLS Players' Union meeting. John won't be available for Saturday's match due to a one game red card suspension.
