The MLS All Stars will face Everton FC of the English Premier League on July 29th at Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City.
This much we know.
But which MLS players (and, more importantly, which Fire players) will be squaring off against Tim Howard and his fellow 'Toffees' come late July?
Well as you can see from the above headline, we won't find that out until 3 p.m. but until that time rolls around, I'd thought I'd venture a guess as to which Fire players should make this year's roster. I predict that four members of the Fire will make the roster this year for the All Stars. The Fire had four representatives at the game last year, and I can't see the first-place squad getting any less players to the All Star game than they did last year.
So, without any further ado, here are my picks for the Fire representatives to the All Star game.
**DEF -- Wilman Conde**
I think that Wilman is having a fantastic year at center back for the Fire. He has played consistently well all year long and it would be a huge snub if he didn't make the team. Whether or not he goes/plays in the game is another question (that hamstring might hold him back) but he should be picked regardless.
**MID -- Marco Pappa**
Marco has enjoyed a good run of form this season, scoring five goals and notching two assists on the year. I think that MLS would be crazy to pass on him this year as he has proven himself to be a very dynamic wing player.
**FWD -- Brian McBride**
McBride has been solid for the Fire this year and having a big name like his in the squad is likely something MLS wouldn't mind...
**FWD -- Cuauhtemoc Blanco**
Although Blanco has struggled as of late, he has still put up some big numbers on the year. His three goals are nothing to sneeze at and his six assists are good enough for second in the league. Also, Blanco would likely be a help at the box office in Salt Lake if MLS needs to make a last second ticket push.
I'll update the post later on in the day when the roster is announced, but until then let's hear who you think should make the All Star roster from the Fire.
