US and Costa Rica set to square off tonight

In a non-Fire related topic, the U.S. Men's National Team takes on Costa Rica tonight in a World Cup Qualifying match.

The match pits the CONCACAF leading U.S. side against 2nd place Costa Rica (which features Fire defender Gonzalo Segares).   Costa Rica will have the advantage of playing at home in the vaunted Estadio Saprissa, a place where the U.S. has never won.

I expect a hard fought match tonight, but I predict that the sides will walk away with a 1-1 draw.  I see Costa Rica opening the scoring with a first half tally, but I think that the U.S. will equalize through a Brian Ching second half goal.

If you are looking for a place to watch the match, all three Fire goalies will be bartending at Fado Irish Pub in Chicago.  It should be a decent opportunity to talk to/pick the brain of the Fire keepers.

  • Ok, god what a horrible match last night! The USMNT looked worse than the Fire did on Sunday--no organization, HORRIBLE defense, no passion.

Lets hope they figure out something for the Honduras match!

I'm also interested in watching Mexico over the next week.

First, does anyone know if the Mexico matches are going to be televised in Chicago?

Also, can they pull off the match vs. El Salvador on Saturday??

  • @Roti2000
According to livesoccertv.com both Mexico matches will be shown on Telemundo.

And I completely agree with your assessment of the match. It was just pathetic, right from the start. Hopefully they'll bring it on Saturday.
