The Chicago-based social marketing campaign, "How are you healthy?" is nominated for Outstanding Print/Outdoor - Mainstream Market category the first ever Media Awards in Advertising sponsored by GLADD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

The "How are you healthy?" campaign launched in March of 2008 as part of a 5-year gay men's health collaboration between the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Center on Halsted, Howard Brown Health Center, and Test Positive Aware Network. It's the first social marketing campaign in Chicago to take a positive approach to men's health, rather than a "you better not do this or else" approach.

Jim Picket of AFC, one of the leads on the project and a frequent guest of Feast of Fun says "We focus on strengths and encourage healthy living in this campaign, it makes the somewhat radical assumption that gay men are, in fact, doing healthy things for ourselves, and it invites people to share their reflections on the health and wellness blog called LifeLube.org."

Feast of Fun is proud to have participated in the campaign and here's my serious but not so serious reflection on how I stay healthy and of course, Fausto has quite a few things to say about being healthy.

The winner will be announced on October 27 in New York City at an event hosted by out gay actor Alan Cummings.

  • This is wonderful news! Congrats to them for getting recognized - I hope they take it all the way and bring the award home with them.

  • We couldn't do what we do without their support. Congrats!

  • Hey, not to nitpick, but GLAAD acronym and referring URL are off in the first paragraph.
