Chicago's Hidden Gem: The 5th Annual Juggernaut Film Festival

Chicago's Hidden Gem: The 5th Annual Juggernaut Film Festival

Do you love Science Fiction and Fantasy stories? Do you love film-making? Do you love sitting back, relaxing, and being transported to other worlds? Then THIS is the event for you.

This one-day event celebrates Science Fiction and Fantasy films from around the world. This is the 5th annual Juggernaut Film Festival and is presented by Otherworld Theatre Company whose sole mission is to bring the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre to life.

Held at the historic Music Box Theatre on Saturday, March 4th from 11 am- 6 pm, the Juggernaut Film Festival brings movie buffs, filmmakers, and science fiction/fantasy enthusiasts together.

These films are NOT what you might expect. They are not sloppily put together by a random group of people. These films are exquisite works of art, with budgets ranging from 1k to 50k. You are guaranteed to see a wide range of film work done by Chicago locals to artists across the globe.

Having attended and run this event for the past several years, I can only say that I continue to be blown away and amazed at the stunning film entries. My favourites from last year included an avant-garde piece about a woman battling her frankenstein clone, a mother and daughter connecting through a fantasy world, and a little girl embracing her mother’s new boyfriend even though he *might* be a werewolf.

As the Fantasy Queen of Chicago, I’ll be giving you a play by play of the event. Word on the street is that I might even be co-hosting the festival!

After all the films are shown, Otherworld Theatre will be giving out awards in the following categories: Best Sci-Fi Short, Best Fantasy Short, Spirit Award, Female Filmmaker Award, and Audience Choice Award. These awards are based on YOUR votes!

I am very excited about this line up which features filmmakers from around the world. We are also very excited to be screening The Shadow Hours by Kyle Higgins. Mr. Higgins is a filmmaker from the comic book world, a number 1 New York Times Best Selling author whose past work includes Nightwing, Batman Eternal, Gates of Gotham, and Batman Beyond 2.0. Don’t worry readers, I’ll try my best to get an interview with him! But his credentials certain give you an idea of how great these films will be.
