Seven Deadly Sins: Pride - Never underestimate stupid people in large numbers

"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." - Proverbs 16:18

Pride normally makes people feel really good about themselves.

On the other side of that coin, pride can make people do and say some colossally stupid things.

What is pride?

It is easy to Google it. But what is it really? What does it lead to? I have some ideas:

Pride led Jesse Jackson Jr to resign from his congressional seat soon after he was re-elected. That’s going to cost tax payers millions to find his replacement.

Pride led Jesse Jr's predecessor, Mel Reynolds to run office again even though he had a sexual relationship with an 16-year-old staffer.
