The Crosstown Classic is kinda overrated but still fun

This is an original blog from the first Fanning the Flames since 1978 blog:

It’s that time of year again when family members, co-workers, and random people on the street are at each other throats.

The Cubs/Whitesox alleged “rivalry” brings out the best and worst in people.

As someone who is a devoted sox fan I have seen the good and bad of this rivalry. For awhile, I lived on the northside and I have also been to games at wrigley and at sox park(I don’t call it U.S. Cellular Field).

So I have often heard some pretty nasty things from both fan bases some so awful I dare not to repeat. I’ve seen fights, objects thrown, etc. you name it I’ve probably seen it(checkout YouTube).

Having said this, the teams only play each other six times a year. The games don’t really factors in the divisional standings. But you wouldn’t know it from the turnout. Overall, it’s kinda fun if you really think about it. To see so many people passionate about the baseball teams that they love is a wonderful thing.

  • A team I dislike playing a team owned by a family whose propaganda activities I can not support. Yawn. Basketball is on!
