Shari Duffy of Ladies Night Chicago Gives Moms a Social Life

Shari Duffy Ladies Night Chicago 2012

Here’s what I envisioned after baby: eight or so weeks of getting into the swing of things, followed by fun girls’ nights out at least twice a month. The reality? I awakened from my post-baby stupor to realize I’d been out with my gal pals only three times in three years. Three years and three early dinners at the Cheesecake Factory.

So what are most of us moms missing? A life. But now, thanks to one amazing gal, we get to have one. And, oh my, is it going to be fabulous. Chicagoans, allow me to introduce you to your Fairy (live-like-a-rockstar) Godmother, Shari Duffy of Ladies NightChicago.

I know a thing or two about us moms. There are times we want to connect with cool women, rather than stay home and watch Real Housewives reruns. We also like to pamper ourselves once in a while without any guilt. And that’s where Shari comes in. She totally gets it and designs her events to combine fun, thrills, treats, and eats that will satisfy our cravings for awesome adventures, new personal and professional connections, and even a little culture. Can you name another gal in Chicago who does that?

So do me a favor right now and get out your calendar. Make a plan to launder those dry clean–only clothes gathering dust in the back of your closet. Shari’s got a few events coming up that you’d have to be crazy to miss. And look for me there. I’ll be the gal with the big smile on my face, celebrating Shari's talent for helping moms like me feel super-duper sexy and extra special.

October 15: Night at the Museum

Get ready for a night of fashion at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum that will knock your Spanx off. Sponsored byTCW and a highlight of Fashion Focus Chicago, your ticket to this event will give you a front row seat to the latest threads from 20 local designers. Plus, Shea Vaughn, Vince's mom and one of the coolest ladies around, will be the MC!

Proceeds from your ticket will support the Nature Museum as well as Atia's Fund for Project Ladybug and Flashes of Hope. With a VIP ticket (quantities are limited), you’ll get to join a private reception featuring a live band, belly dancers, and sultry snake charmers. I'm not even kidding about the snake charmers! All VIP tickets come with a $100 facial from Leah Chavie Skincare and Spa and a one-year membership to the Nature Museum. You’ll also head home with a Red Door swag bag.

You, me, Shari, Mama Vaughn, and all of Chicago’s coolest and most eco-friendly fashionistas. Now how fabulous is that?

October 31: Halloween at the Drake

On October 31, tuck in your little ghost or goblin early so we can celebrate Halloween together at the Drake Hotel, for Ladies Night Chicago’s costume party. Yes ladies, we’re hanging out at the Drake this Hallow’s Eve! Come dressed as your sillier or sexier alter ego and sip cocktails with Chicago’s glitterati. Men are welcome too, and you can snag your early bird tickets at

November 21: Black Wednesday

Throw on your LBD (little black dress) the night before Thanksgiving and live it up at Black Wednesday, where ladies like us will be shaking our booties and enjoying martinis and manicures. Tons of vendors will be joining us as well, showing us the hottest finds of the season. I plan to get myself something fabulous to start the holiday season off right. And so should you.

This event, which will take place at River North hotspot The Joynt, will be so much fun that we might just have to break curfew! And don’t forget, there’s no cover charge if you show up in black.

So there you have it, the highlights of your fall 2012 social calendar. Bust out your dancing shoes and turn your smart phones to mute. Afraid you won’t know anyone when you get there? Just find Shari – your fairy godmother will introduce you to all your newest friends.
