Wow, 2012 is off to a roaring start. It must be because Families in the Loop’s January theme is “New Year’s Revolution.” What great timing, because major transitions are afoot all over Families in the Loop’s little universe.
The first exciting revolution starts with this blog. I don’t know about you, but I had such a blast with our posts in 2011. Boy, did we really give people something to talk about — pole dancing, parking meters, relationships woes, and so much more. It was a year of breaking stereotypes about moms and dads with young kids (and perhaps even creating some new ones).
This year, we’ll continue to dish about everything under the sun related to urban parenting, filling you in on all of the hottest places, spaces, and happenings for you and the family. We’ll also open this blog up to you, our readers, to share your questions, thoughts, and ideas with the community. Consider it your own Dear Abby, with lots of supportive Abbys to cheer you on.
There are changes over on our website too. Our community calendar is all abuzz with fun activities and inspiring professionals sharing their expertise in fabulously fresh articles. I even appeared on WGN this week without sounding like a complete dork (Do people even say the word “dork” anymore?). Thanks to you, we’re growing in leaps and bounds!
Now, before FITL takes a leap into the future, we just have to give thanks to one very special person, Jamie Fishman. As co-founder of Families in the Loop, Jamie poured her heart and soul, as she does with everything in her life, into making Families in the Loop a vibrant springboard to urban living.
Jamie has decided to resign from FITL to spend more time with her family, which I totally get, because her family is amazing. It has been an honor and a pleasure to be on this journey with her for the last 16 months and to watch our small dream become a reality. Together, we were like any family, with good times and tough ones, laughter and even a few tears (ours and our kids'!), and many "who the heck are we?" type adventures. Yet through it all there was always understanding, loyalty, integrity, forgiveness, and trust that we had each other’s backs. What a gift it has been for me, both personally and professionally, to have partnered with Jamie Fishman.
Now friends, it’s time for us to get ready for another year of crazy fun parenting, here and all over our fabulous city, with Families in the Loop. We've got exciting events, activities, scoop, deals, and so much more in store for you in 2012. Are you ready?
