After wins in the 2006 NFC Championship, the 2007 season finale, and a late season game in 2008, yesterday's 30-13 loss was the Bears' first to the Sean Payton-Drew Brees led-New Orleans Saints. It was a game that will continue to prompt anger, sarcasm, Tuesday morning quarterbacking and plenty of handwringing from sports fans, writers, and radio hosts, which is why Brad Biggs's column in the Tribune this morning ("10 thoughts on the Bears' loss to the Saints") was such a delight.

Rather than pellet us with derisions of Lovie Smith, Mike Martz, the offensive line or the secondary, Biggs lets his reporting, curiosity, and knowledge drive his writing. I'll be keeping a much closer eye on Biggs' work for the rest of the season.
