Every month, on the last Wednesday, we bloggers at ChicagoNow take part in Blogapalooz-hour. We get set a topic, or question and then we have to run with it. I've taken part every month since I joined the community , June so tonight is no exception - except I can't do what they're asking.
Tonight's topic/question is:
"Write what your perfect day would be like, either in reality or fantasy." Really have fun with it, go into as much detail as you can and incorporate everybody and anything you can think of.
Why can't I describe what my perfect day would be like? Because it already happened. Although I'm a fiction writer - and could easily make something up, that would be the perfect day for my character, not for me. Nothing I can describe, either in reality, or in fantasy will ever compare to a beautiful day, earlier this year.
On April 13, I woke up in an adorable little cottage, situated behind the country house hotel that nestled in the woodland close to the beach front of my home town.
I checked my Facebook, and many posts and messages were pouring in from friends, wishing me all the luck in the world. Luck for the new adventure that awaited me. My best friend - who was sleeping in the other bed across from mine, stirred. It was time to get back to being busy.
We had spent the previous evening with my brother and his girlfriend, tying balloons and curling ribbons. Arranging things in the cottage so everything was ready to go over to the main building. I had been planning this day for just over a year.
Now all there was to do was have breakfast together, and enjoy the best, most beautiful day with my closest friends and family, as the sun shone brightly above us. This was my wedding day.
April 13, 2014 was the most perfect day, with so many people to thank for it all coming together. My mum, for the beautiful decorations and cake (she made them all), my best friends for all their support, our best man and best woman, and most importantly my husband. Were it not for him, I wouldn't be on this adventure - nor would I be writing right now to share my perfect day.
To everybody who was there that day - it was a perfect day, and I'm glad I spent it with you.
