When dealing with difficult people, what do you do?

When dealing with difficult people, what do you do?
I am trying to avoid having a family blow up. I didn’t even want to write on this topic in my blog, but it seems there is nothing I can do to avoid this situation, and it’s the situation of dealing with difficult family members. I want to get along and I want to be... Read more »

Remembering Risa, my childhood friend

Remembering Risa, my childhood friend
I can remember playing with Risa, my childhood friend, and the hours we spent playing on end like it was yesterday, but it’s actually been almost forty years since those days.  Risa was the daughter of my father’s friend and drinking buddy, so when my dad and Mr. Young, or Chick as he was affectionately... The 14th Annual Fall Fest presented by the Village of Homewood: A place where dreams come true
Ever watched a holiday program and dreamed you could live in a place like the one you see on TV? The setting seems so picture perfect…a place where the people are friendly, the community is diverse, and they have parties with singing and dancing where everyone comes out to enjoy themselves, regardless of age, color,... Church: Why bother?

Church: Why bother?
When I was growing up, the week did not begin nor end, depending upon your perspective, without church. If you were in my house, or my grandmothers’ houses, you got your butt up and went to church, whether there was a sleepover or party the night before. As a matter of fact, I am squeezing... Heal your heart, practice forgiveness

Heal your heart, practice forgiveness
Recently a dear friend betrayed me by creating all kinds of chaos, drama, and distrust within my family.  As a mom of six daughters, that’s not too difficult to do with our feelings as fragile and frayed as our skirts and dresses. A peaceful, pleasant, family occasion turned ugly with people using “fighting words” which,... Read more »

YOU BETTER WATCH OUT! MEN-O-PAUSE HAS COME TO TOWN!

YOU BETTER WATCH OUT! MEN-O-PAUSE HAS COME TO TOWN!
We all know Barry Manilow’s holiday classic “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” The song encourages all kids to watch out, not pout, or cry. And we love and thank Barry for this timeless treasure. But who these kids really better watch out for, and keep their lips quiet from pouting is the real grinch... Read more »

Season finale of Preachers of LA brought me to tears

Season finale of Preachers of LA brought me to tears
The Season Finale of Preachers of LA brought me to tears. After weeks of blogging about their debauchery and lavish lifestyles, and their greed and questionable acts on the show and in their lives, when all was said and done, at the end of it, I cried.  And not because of the reasons listed above.... Elana Anthony

I am a wife and mother blessed to have six daughters who fill my home with love and laughter. My passion is writing and teaching, but most especially inspiring people to live healthy lives in my faith-filled fitness classes. My dream is to have my own faith and fitness TV show where people from all the world collectively join together on our "temple" building project of enjoying optimal health. I am a certified group fitness instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and earned graduate degrees in Writing from DePaul University, in addition to a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania. The Salvation Army Kroc Center is my church home where I not only teach Adult Sunday school classes, but I also sing on my church's Praise Team alongside my daughters, under the direction of my husband who is our leader. I have seen and experienced the hand of God work and move in my life, and consider it an honor and blessing to be saved to serve.
