Rock-Tober! Challenging Every Area of My Life During October

Rock-Tober! Challenging Every Area of My Life During October
It’s the first day of the last quarter of 2018 and I refuse to end this year the way I began.  Instead of the  looming despair and agony I felt a few months back when I turned 50, as if I was running out of time to create my best life–this month–this awesome month of... Read more »

The Agony of Entrepreneurship

The Agony of Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship. You can read books on it. You can go to seminars about it. You can pursue it. But know this: Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. Why do we do it? Did you know that the pursuit of entrepreneurship means that you’re willing (and crazy enough) to work 80 hours for yourself... Read more »

Since The Kids Are Back To School, I'm Doing a Different Kind of Home Reno Project

Since The Kids Are Back To School, I'm Doing a Different Kind of Home Reno Project
You know how it is. Finally. The kids are back to school. It’s amazing to me that we spend all of our childhood years wishing we didn’t have to go back to school, loving the idea of endless summers with carefree days poolside with friends, or traveling to fun, exciting places.  Then, we grow up,... Daisy's is more than a vegan restaurant, it's an experience

Daisy's is more than a vegan restaurant, it's an experience
Daisy’s is a vegan restaurant in the south suburb of Phoenix, IL, just outside of Harvey.  I’m relatively new to the vegan scene so I’d never heard of this hidden gem that’s been operating for the past 8 years. For longtime vegans, they already know of the delicious meals and often place their orders in... Read more »

5 things you must do when you're under pressure

5 things you must do when you're under pressure
Pressure. We all get it. We’ve all had it. None of us wants it, but we can all learn from it–except when you’re under it, you don’t care that diamonds are formed by pressure or that pearls are produced from irritating sand pressurizing that oyster. “Who cares?!?!,” barks the person under pressure. I just want... Read more »

Pushing through the pain: a lesson in perseverance

Pushing through the pain: a lesson in perseverance
Perseverance.  The sheer act of grit, tenacity, determination, and the will to win. It’s saying “I will not quit,” even when every opposing force is against you.  That’s the muscle I’ve been building. Like burning glutes after a million weighted squats, developing perseverance isn’t pleasant. I don’t know anyone who says “I’d like to practice... Read more »

A Friday the 13th I'll never forget

A Friday the 13th I'll never forget
I wasn’t going to write this today; hadn’t really considered the date or thought about anything special.  I was busy moving about in my own world trying to enjoy a beautiful, sunny, summer afternoon with a moment of silence as all of my girls are out of the house for a change. I’m rarely alone,... Read more »

3 things you wouldn't believe about today's kindergarten students

3 things you wouldn't believe about today's kindergarten students
You know the expression, “Never say never,” well, yeah, learn from me and don’t say it, because trust and believe me when I say, I said emphatically that I would never teach PE to kindergarten kids again.  Well, so much for that. For the past month, I’ve been teaching elementary PE to kids at a... Read more »

Never say never: One week back to teaching for Chicago Public Schools

Never say never: One week back to teaching for Chicago Public Schools
You’ve heard it said several times, but it doesn’t pack the same punch until you experience it for yourself: “Never say never.” These are the sentiments I’d spoken about teaching elementary phys ed and most certainly, I thought I knew like I knew my name, I’d NEVER teaching kindergarten gym again! Yes friends, it’s true:... Read more »

International Women's Day, #PressforProgress

International Women's Day, #PressforProgress
Today is International Women’s Day, a day we #PressforProgress. As I read stories of inspiring women who are trailblazers an hold a variety of positions as successful business owners, managers, and entrepreneurs– as well as a host of other responsibilities–I am inspired by our progress and potential, and yet eerily reminded of my untimely termination... Elana Anthony

I am a wife and mother blessed to have six daughters who fill my home with love and laughter. My passion is writing and teaching, but most especially inspiring people to live healthy lives in my faith-filled fitness classes. My dream is to have my own faith and fitness TV show where people from all the world collectively join together on our "temple" building project of enjoying optimal health. I am a certified group fitness instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and earned graduate degrees in Writing from DePaul University, in addition to a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania. I have seen and experienced the hand of God work and move in my life, and consider it an honor and blessing to be saved to serve.
