Healing from homosexuality and promiscuity in the church today, there is still hope

Healing from homosexuality and promiscuity in the church today, there is still hope
Today, like Alice, I fell down the proverbial “rabbit hole,” but it was no glorious Wonderland experience. I hadn’t planned on it. I was online searching for lyrics to a gospel song by Darwin Hobbs to prepare for our Monday night Praise Team rehearsal.  Instead, I ended up finding videos of Hobbs where he was... Read more »

Blogging through the pain: A glimpse into a writer's mind
Every writer wants that magical moment when it feels as if the clouds have parted and the sun comes pouring down where the right words come to mind and they go coursing out through your fingers onto your keyboard like music. In graduate school, I learned that that magical moment is called the “Platonic role... Read more »

I still vividly remember the 80′s mid-morning TV show, “20 Minute Workout” and how I loved dancing along with them. Back... Read more »

The devil wears Prada...and gym shoes!

The devil wears Prada...and gym shoes!
In the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” Meryl Streep portrayed the boss from hell who judged her employees based purely on  what they looked like. As the editor-in-chief of a high fashion magazine, that seemed only fair–except judging people on appearance leaves no room for their talent or knowledge, which was the case for Andy... Read more »

When dealing with difficult people, what do you do?

Remembering Risa, my childhood friend

Remembering Risa, my childhood friend
I can remember playing with Risa, my childhood friend, and the hours we spent playing on end like it was yesterday, but it’s actually been almost forty years since those days.  Risa was the daughter of my father’s friend and drinking buddy, so when my dad and Mr. Young, or Chick as he was affectionately... Memories of domestic violence are hard to forget

Memories of domestic violence are hard to forget
It’s an ordinary day. The washing machine is whizzing. The kids are singing and playing as we go through the frantic morning routine of getting ready for school, while the news replays the latest tragedy until I just tune it out. Instead, I begin to focus on all the things I have to do in... Read more »

    Elana Anthony

I am a wife and mother blessed to have six daughters who fill my home with love and laughter. My passion is writing and teaching, but most especially inspiring people to live healthy lives in my faith-filled fitness classes. My dream is to have my own faith and fitness TV show where people from all the world collectively join together on our "temple" building project of enjoying optimal health. I am a certified group fitness instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and earned graduate degrees in Writing from DePaul University, in addition to a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania. The Salvation Army Kroc Center is my church home where I not only teach Adult Sunday school classes, but I also sing on my church's Praise Team alongside my daughters, under the direction of my husband who is our leader. I have seen and experienced the hand of God work and move in my life, and consider it an honor and blessing to be saved to serve.
