Enjoying my mother after a stroke, a different kind of Mother's Day

Enjoying my mother after a stroke, a different kind of Mother's Day
These last few years have been quite different ever since my mother has several strokes. Her first one was an aortic stroke that she had with my daughter on a cruise to the Bahamas. And then again about five years ago, she had an abdominal aortic stroke.  Just to have my mother still alive I... Read more »

Fitness Blender, a phenomenal site for free online fitness videos
I have been in the fitness industry now coming up on twenty years, and yet somehow, I have never heard of Fitness Blender which currently has over 2.5 million Youtube followers, but boy am I glad I did.  The only way to remain a good instructor and stay on the cutting edge of what’s happening... I hate to admit I procrastinate, but not for reasons you think

I hate to admit I procrastinate, but not for reasons you think
I hate to admit that I procrastinate, but I do. I put off doing major things that are important   I’m not talking about laundry, or cleaning my closet, or developing some kind of system to manage my bills. I procrastinate with all of those things, but I’m not really concerned about those because eventually... Read more »

Weight loss motivation gone wrong

Weight loss motivation gone wrong
Weight loss ads. You simply can’t get around them. From Oprah and Weight Watchers to Marie Osmond with Nutrisystem, everyone is trying to encourage us that we can get and be healthy–myself included. I often wonder about the subliminal messages in certain ads. It’s one thing to say something catchy that gets you excited and inspired... Read more »

Before you sign up for personal training, you have to read this!
It ‘s a new year, so you know what that means– most everyone is focused on their health and fitness goals. The joyous quinceañera and the painful memories of being fifteen

The joyous quinceañera and the painful memories of being fifteen
Saturday I attended a most beautiful and joyful quinceañera. It was something to witness! I was invited because my husband and I own and operate a photobooth and this was another added feature to the already elaborate display of love and celebration for this stunningly beautiful fifteen-year old girl’s birthday party. I’d never been to a... Read more »

Too much work can kill you, the Labor Day I almost died

Too much work can kill you, the Labor Day I almost died
On September 2nd of 2011 I was admitted to the hospital for flu like symptoms. It was the Labor Day weekend I’ll never forget.  The truth is, I felt worse than any flu. Inside, I thought, just maybe, I might die. I had all kinds of stuff happening to my body for which I will... Read more »

A second chance at virginity, what a joy that would be!

A second chance at virginity, what a joy that would be!
I feel sorry for today’s youth because no one really speaks about the importance of virginity, and is it any wonder the way every song and television program glamorizes sex.  Kids today don’t stand a chance.  I wish I had a second chance at virginity. I think I would have liked to hold out until... Read more »

Healing from homosexuality and promiscuity, there is still hope

Healing from homosexuality and promiscuity, there is still hope
Today, like Alice, I fell down the proverbial “rabbit hole,” but it was no glorious Wonderland experience. I hadn’t planned on it. I was online searching for lyrics to a gospel song by Darwin Hobbs to prepare for our Monday night Praise Team rehearsal.  Instead, I ended up finding videos of Hobbs where he was... Read more »

    Elana Anthony

I am a wife and mother blessed to have six daughters who fill my home with love and laughter. My passion is writing and teaching, but most especially inspiring people to live healthy lives in my faith-filled fitness classes. My dream is to have my own faith and fitness TV show where people from all the world collectively join together on our "temple" building project of enjoying optimal health. I am a certified group fitness instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and earned graduate degrees in Writing from DePaul University, in addition to a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania. I have seen and experienced the hand of God work and move in my life, and consider it an honor and blessing to be saved to serve.
