The origin of saggin' pants disgusts me

The origin of saggin' pants disgusts me
I thought I knew the origin of saggin’ pants until I came across this article my cousin posted on his Facebook timeline. I usually don’t click off and read stuff like this just because I get tired of being angry and mortified by the ignorance of youth.  Maya Angelou encouraged us that “when we know... Read more »

Forty plus days as a vegan, here's what I've learned

Forty plus days as a vegan, here's what I've learned
Tuesday, September 12th, my life completely changed.  It was my first time going to The Primal Cut restaurant in Tinley Park and like any good carnivore, I ordered their evening special which was a big ole huge hunk of beef. They explained that it’d been cured for over forty days and it was crusted with... Read more »

Wait...I'm becoming a vegetarian? How did I get here?

Wait...I'm becoming a vegetarian? How did I get here?
Never in a million years did I ever think I’d stop eating meat. Why would I? It’s just something we do as Americans. I can remember being a little girl standing on a chair with my grandmother cleaning chitlins, something I thought I’d eat till the day I died. Even when I became a fitness... Read more »

A not-so-secret strategy for creating wealth

A not-so-secret strategy for creating wealth
I am a self-help junkie.  I love reading books on improving myself and discovering what other people have done to succeed. Many talk about habits and how if you don’t master them, they will master you. Many offer steps to success that are new or others that I’ve never considered–but the real not-so-secret strategy for... Mastermind groups work, my dreams are coming true!

Mastermind groups work, my dreams are coming true!
My life has had a major shift. Things I’ve always wanted to do I am doing. People I’ve always wanted to meet, I am meeting, and only from a few simple, yet monumental changes.  I got involved with a “Mentor to Millionaire” program recently, and already it has changed my life. What’s interesting about what’s... Read more »

I hate to admit I procrastinate, but not for reasons you think

I hate to admit I procrastinate, but not for reasons you think
I hate to admit that I procrastinate, but I do. I put off doing major things that are important   I’m not talking about laundry, or cleaning my closet, or developing some kind of system to manage my bills. I procrastinate with all of those things, but I’m not really concerned about those because eventually... Read more »

Experiencing God, the most life changing book I've ever read

Experiencing God, the most life changing book I've ever read
In the preface of “Experiencing God,” authors Claude V. King and Henry Blackaby explain, like most authors, that they had no idea when they first published their work in 1976 the impact the book would have on the world. From then until now, generations of believers have been transformed by their book, and I too am one... Gay Christian mom blogger Glennon Doyle gives me hope

Gay Christian mom blogger Glennon Doyle gives me hope
Social media is all abuzz with the latest story about the Christian mom blogger, Glennon Doyle, and her engagement to retired soccer star Abby Wambach.  I’m not a soccer fan. Never heard of Abby Wambach. I’m also not familiar with Glennon Doyle’s blog. The story caught my eye because of its title in the Washington... Read more »

Half-dressed women in the gym: What's that really about?

Half-dressed women in the gym: What's that really about?
Recently as I was about to leave the gym, I saw something that really got me to thinking. I came home that evening and posted the following to my Facebook page: Tonight a young rebellious type got mad when told by management that he needed to put on his shirt in the gym. Irritated and... Elana Anthony

I am a wife and mother blessed to have six daughters who fill my home with love and laughter. My passion is writing and teaching, but most especially inspiring people to live healthy lives in my faith-filled fitness classes. My dream is to have my own faith and fitness TV show where people from all the world collectively join together on our "temple" building project of enjoying optimal health. I am a certified group fitness instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and earned graduate degrees in Writing from DePaul University, in addition to a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania. I have seen and experienced the hand of God work and move in my life, and consider it an honor and blessing to be saved to serve.
