Rock-Tober! Challenging Every Area of My Life During October
October is an exciting month to push yourself to see your goals to fruition.

It's the first day of the last quarter of 2018 and I refuse to end this year the way I began.  Instead of the  looming despair and agony I felt a few months back when I turned 50, as if I was running out of time to create my best life--this month--this awesome month of October is making me want to rock it out! I don't feel depressed like I did earlier this year. I feel exhilarated as if I've finally made it over a huge hurdle and now I can just coast as I run downhill with the wind behind me to take me through the final stretch. It's been a long year of trials and challenges and setbacks and disappointments, but no matter what anyone else says about me, I am proud of myself and can feel that I'm close to a major breakthrough.

This excitement is driving me in so many areas of my life!

Just today I created my very own 31-day Ab Challenge that I didn't copy off Pinterest or anything. I made the Word document. I created the table. I structured the exercises. I imported pictures. I figured out how to get it as a .jpeg to upload to Pinterest. Simply put, I did it! May seem simple to you, but for me, it was huge. Might not be pretty or perfect, but I did it!

Not only that, I actually went to the gym and went live on Facebook and did the exercises I created. I know I'm a fitness instructor and teach classes all the time, but it's something about making yourself vulnerable and accountable, especially when my abs are one of my problem areas since I did have six daughters and major abdominal surgery twice. When fitness instructors are flashing their abs and cute bra tops, I keep my stomach covered because it's one area I wish looked better.

But you know what?

I told myself today, "Enough of that. You are perfect in God's sight and we are all a work in progress," so as Susan Jeffers said, "I felt my fear and did it anyway!"

It goes on though.

Yesterday, just as clear as day, I got the strongest impression of the book I am to write and finish THIS MONTH, a lifelong goal I've had and have procrastinated on for a variety of reasons. Financial and emotional and familial challenges don't lend well to inspiration, but I told myself something similar about that as well. I said, "Elana, you ARE a writer and you have stories that will help people," and so in just one day, I got more than half of my first book completed!

And like the infomercial, I can't help myself. I have to say it:

For almost a month now, I've gone live on Facebook everyday during the week at 4PM central doing something I call, my Midday Motivational Moment. Each day I discuss a different topic I've been inspired to share and each day I ask myself "Why are you doing this? Who really cares?" And yep, you guessed it. I face this fear daily and continue on my path of creating the life I dream of having as a fitness TV talk show host.

This blog is another area I want to conquer as well. When life is happening all around you and there are times you don't know how you'll get through, blogging seems to be the last thing on my mind. But I really do love blogging and writing about the issues of my heart, so I am challenging myself this month to write each and every day during the month of October.
