Today, U.S. News writer and certified strength and conditioning coach K. Aleisha Fetters published an article with three simple tips to use coffee to boost your performance while exercising--which delighted me to no end. Why? Because I start each and every day of my life with a healthy cup of coffee, and I'm guessing you do too since it's reported that 83% of Americans drink at least a cup of coffee each day, according to the National Coffee Association. As a matter of fact, according to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, coffee is even a good alternative to water!
I was happy when I read Fetters article because I too studied exercise science and there has always been a big debate on whether or not to drink coffee pre- or post-workout. I'm glad to know that all these years I have been drinking coffee I've actually been making a healthy choice. If only I could say the same for all the other crap I've struggled with along the years from microwave popcorn to sugar and meat. At least coffee remains my best friend and workout partner.
